Job Description

Job Purpose



To check and verify that all parts and materials brought into the system for the support and maintenance of aircraft are serviceable and airworthy. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the required parts and material are available as and when required on site for the maintenance of aircrafts and or for any other critical usage.



Principal Accountabilities



Perform incoming inspection on ALL components, parts and material used in or on an aircraft, inclusive of any AOG parts/material, which enter SAAT premises from an outside supplier/vendor.




Perform general visual inspection with attention to criteria to indicate possible unapproved parts condition. Inspect the component/part /material for evidence of 'IN TRANSIT" damage. Verify that documented details of components, parts or materials supplied complies with the purchase/repair order requirements inclusive of Certificate of Release to Service or Certificate(CRS) or Conformance(COC) whichever is applicable. Check / verify that components, parts or material supplied are accompanied by traceability information, conformance to specifications, technical data sheets and safety data sheets as applicable. Check and verify any relevant information concerning any life limitations including in-service history records. Verify that part number, serial number, batch number and quantity received are the same as those reflected on the invoices and shipping documents. Check if the packaging is acceptable for the shipping of the component/part/material received as per ATA Spec 300. Identify any ESDS requirements during inspection of ESD sensitive components and ensure that the appropriate process is followed. Check if the part/material has not exceeded life or any other documented imposed limit. Notify the applicable Procurement Department and Quality Assurance of any discrepancies found by using form GT/11 - Aircraft Spares and Material inspection report for stores items. Place non-conforming part /material in the quarantine storage area and liaise with relevant parties to timeously resolve the non-conformance. Complete the quarantine store inventory list timeously to ensure traceability and reason for the part/material being entered into the quarantine store. Check and verify that the part/material has an appropriate identification tag attached after receiving inspection and prior to dispatching to workshop or store. Record and sign off each inspection on part/material form GT/603, Receiving Inspection Checklist and file it in the brown file at SRO for audit, and upload the same onto AMOS as a link to the order.

Qualifications & Experience



Qualification




Matric Certificate in Supply Chain Management/Logistics ( Advantageous)

Experience




Incoming Inspection (Aviation, essential) 3 years Goods receipts in AMOS (Aviation, essential) 3 years

Knowledge and Skills



Knowledge




Good understanding of supply chain procedures. Working knowledge of AMOS. Management of Material Resources -Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work. Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.

Skills




Team Leader skills with the ability to motivate, develop and supervise others. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Good IT skills, in particular spreadsheets and databases and a knowledge of warehouse systems. Analytical and numerical. Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality. Good planning skills and able to meet targets and deadlines. Excellent attention to detail skills.
