Introduction

Our client in the freight and logistics sector requires an Import Controller - Sea/ Air freight to join their team.

Description

Coordinate, consolidate, review and check shipment bookings for accuracy and efficiency

Review supplier shipment documents (Bill of Lading, packing list, invoices etc.) to ensure completeness and accuracy including all deposit invoices and updating foreign vendor schedules.

Monitor, record and communicate the status and flow of shipments into the country and timeous delivery to DC include timeous receipt of the telex release.

Complete, submit and check customs clearing instructions and ensure that all the necessary. Documentation is accurate and included including 3rd party inspection reports where applicable.

Review and cross check customs clearing amount for accuracy and liaise with freight forwarder for amendments if required.

Obtain and review monthly shipping quotes.

Review, update and circulate weekly status report ensuring completeness and accuracy

Review and check freight forwarding invoices and liaise with freight forwarder for amendments if required.

Obtain and provide airfreight quotes where necessary.

Submit, follow up and monitor claims to freight forwarder for en route losses / damages.

Prepare and follow up reimbursement of quality claims and deposit reimbursement on final payment invoice.

Filing of all import documentation in order to meet all SARS requirements.

Ensure schedules are maintained and accurate.

Education Profile

At least five years' experience in an imports environment, preferably sea and airfreight imports within the clothing retail industry

Sound knowledge of incoterms

Finance diploma or higher (freight forwarding qualification would be advantageous)

Excellent Excel skills

ERP system experience would be advantageous, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
