What are we looking for?

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive

Import Buyer

to join our procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods from international suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with import regulations.

What do we expect from the candidate?

Proven experience in international procurement and import processes. Strong negotiation skills and supplier relationship management. Solid understanding of customs regulations and Incoterms. Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines efficiently. Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office. Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and team collaboration.

The key responsibilities:

Research and evaluate suppliers, negotiate price, and manage relationships with international vendors. Predominantly Chinese suppliers. Collaborate with other departments to ensure purchase orders are confirmed/cover is booked, and goods are shipped timeously. Actioning daily price enquiries from Internal Sales department. Manage the procurement process from quoting to purchase order stage, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Provide guidance and support to junior employees within the shipping department. Evaluate potential suppliers based on price, quality, service, and delivery. Negotiate purchase terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure the best possible pricing, quality, and service. Create and manage purchase orders and supplier sales contracts. Maintain relationships with existing international suppliers and identify new supplier opportunities. Interaction with local State Vet Department, and solid knowledge of this governmental department rules and regulations.

Must-Have

:

Matric / Grade 12. Diploma/Degree in Procurement/ Supply Chain or Logistics qualification. Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in purchasing or similar role. Must have solid knowledge and experience within the food and ingredients industry (at least 5 years' experience). Must possess leadership qualities. Strong negotiation skills. Experience in Acumatica will be an added advantage. Knowledgeable about HS-codes/Custom Duty. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
