Job Description

A hydraulic thread roller operator sets up and operates hydraulic thread rolling machines to produce threaded parts like bolts and screws. The job requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read technical drawings, and proficiency with precision measurement tools. Key responsibilities include installing and adjusting dies, monitoring production, performing quality control, and ensuring all safety and documentation standards are met.

Job responsibilities

Machine setup:

Install specified dies and adjust machine settings, such as die pressure and speed, according to work orders and product specifications.

Operation:

Feed material into the machine, start the process, and monitor the automated operation, ensuring a steady and continuous flow.

Quality control:

Inspect finished parts using tools like micrometers and thread gauges to ensure they meet dimensional and quality standards.

Maintenance:

Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting to prevent downtime and ensure the machine is running efficiently.

Documentation:

Complete production reports, record any issues, and maintain accurate production records.

Safety:

Adhere to all safety regulations, maintain a clean and organized work area, and use hoists or other equipment for heavy lifting when necessary.

Required skills and qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is typically required, with an associate's degree or trade school apprenticeship being preferred.

Experience:

Experience as an operator, and preferably a thread roller operator, is often required. Some jobs may require 3-5 years of experience in a similar manufacturing setting.

Technical skills:

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.

Proficiency with measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and thread gauges.

Familiarity with various types of threads, materials, and machine parts.
