As an international energy leader present in over 25 countries, we develop, invest in, build, and operate renewable and low-carbon energy production facilities, as well as flexible power and electricity transmission solutions.
Our portfolio includes technologies for low-carbon electricity (wind, solar, hydro, biomass), system flexibility (battery storage, pumped hydro), and carbon footprint reduction (electric mobility, hydrogen, off-grid solutions).
In Southern Africa, EDF Power Solutions has been active since 2009, with offices in Cape Town, Gqeberha, and Johannesburg. We currently operate 4 wind farms (142 MW) and have 1.5 GW of wind, solar, and battery storage projects under construction. Our ambition is to deliver 5 GW of renewable projects by 2030, including hydropower, wind, solar, and BESS projects.
The Role
We are seeking a Hybrid Energy Analyst to join our Energy Centre of Excellence (ECoE). This role is critical in supporting EDF Power Solutions' growth by developing tools, models, and strategies for hybrid energy projects. You will work on project valuation, energy trading, forecasting, and bid preparation, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver optimal solutions.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance modelling tools for project valuation, energy trading, and forecasting.
  • Support bid preparation and project closing through system sizing, optimisation, and dispatch modelling.
  • Assist in reviewing technical documents for environmental approvals, feasibility studies, and site selection.
  • Conduct market and business case analysis to inform development strategies.
  • Build and share understanding of future power market rules, opportunities, and risks.
  • Support analysis of new business opportunities in renewable and hybrid energy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Technical, Legal, Finance, Procurement) and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with technical advisors, contractors, and grid operators to define optimal solutions.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Need
Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Science, or Computer Science (BSc, BTech, or equivalent).
Experience & Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and enhance data modelling tools.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical data
  • Strong interest or experience in renewable energy, hybrid systems, or energy storage.
  • Familiarity with modelling tools (e.g., Homer, Plexos, Python, Excel). Python is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, advanced Excel (VBA appreciated).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and ability to work independently and in teams.
