Job Description

Role purpose

The Human Resource Generalist provides an essential HR service that blends operational HR management with strategic partnership. This role supports management and staff with effective implementation of STADIO's HR strategy, encompassing employee relations, recruitment, remuneration, HR policy, and performance management, while also acting as a trusted HR Business Partner to academic and administrative units.

Key responsibilities

Execute HR action plans aligned with overall people strategy.

Administer payroll-related remuneration and benefits and manage staff enquiries.

Maintain and update job descriptions, job grading, employment contracts, and accurate employee records.

Manage recruitment processes including advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, and onboarding.

Facilitate offboarding and exit administration effectively.

Provide employee relations support including discipline, grievance management, and advice on policies.

Employer representation at CCMA.

Compile and submit accurate HR reports for management and statutory compliance.

Consult with management to ensure HR strategies support institutional goals and operational needs.

Partner with academic and administrative units to drive talent management, organisational development, and employee engagement initiatives.

Provide expert coaching on performance management, conflict resolution, and change management.

Advise on legal compliance and best HR practices to mitigate risk.

Facilitate culture development and continuous improvement activities through employee engagement metrics.

Act as a trusted HR advisor, balancing business objectives with employee experience.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and experience

A Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management.

Minimum 5 years operational HR experience, preferably in private higher education.

Experience working with an HR information system.

Experience in industrial relations and CCMA representation.

Skills and competencies

In-depth knowledge of South African labour laws and employment legislation.

Strong organisational and administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems.

Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Strong problem-solving skills with a customer service mindset.

Confident, independent thinker with empathy and professionalism

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality
