As the Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSE&Q) Manager, you will provide expert advice and implement HSE strategies for Acciona Energy South Africa and all related companies. You will also be responsible for ensuring that all the environmental legislation, policies and procedures are adopted to keep the company compliant. You will support business growth by leading risk mitigation and HSE&Q productivity enhancements by producing a comprehensive risk register, with HSE&Q specific objectives and targets mainly focused in reducing health and safety risk, harm to people and environment.



Mission:

Define quality, safety, health and environmental strategies for and provide expert advice and implement SHEQ strategy in relation to development, construction and operation of Acciona Energy projects and associated works.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership responsibilities for Quality, Safety & Environmental staff and budget.
• Implement standards for Health, Safety and Environment, Quality Control and Compliance for all business processes.
• Interpret and implement the Global Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements established by Acciona South Africa
• Implement systems to ensure best-practice governance and compliance.
• Lead Acciona Energy operations as the Management Representative in the development, maintenance and continual improvement of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 certifications & Implement ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001. certification
• Carry out risk assessments and incident investigations of significant incidents which identify and take account of relevant hazards.
• Support business growth by leading risk mitigation and SHEQ productivity enhancements by producing a comprehensive risk register.
• Manage the Health Safety, Quality and ESG and promote safety culture across all functions with support of a world class organization dedicated to safety.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate site and work hazards prior to bid or plan development.
• Conduct annual audits of projects to determine their compliance with both internal and external regulatory requirements.
• Work in conjunction with Global Quality, Safety and Environmental group in Spain in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures.
• Lead in the recruitment, hiring and training of HSE/ESG personnel; support HSE personnel on site and give input to line manager.
• Coordinate and organize in-house SHE training for managers and employees regarding key HSE issues including lessons learnt.

Required Skills and Competencies

Degree/Training:

• Relevant qualification, with a minimum of 10 yearsxe2x80x99 experience and registered as a Health, Safety & Environmental Professional (SACPCMP).
• Experience in implementation, maintaining and auditing of the OSHA45001 and ISO14001 Management System
• HSE qualifications recognized locally or internationally e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH, industrial safety diploma governed by respective government organizations.

Additional:

• Experience with program and permit audits / inspections, including monitoring report submissions, record keeping, and action- item resolution.
• Proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication, negotiation, leadership, detail, and organizational skills.
• Ability to professionally represent the company when dealing with external organizations and regulatory bodies.
• Familiarity of Industry Standards and relevant industry HSE regulations and requirements.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Very good communication and problem-solving skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Able to work well independently and as part of a team
• Valid driverxe2x80x99s license
• Must be able to travel within South Africa and the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa and abroad when required.
