Role Overview
The HR & Recruitment Lead will be responsible for end-to-end talent acquisition, HR operations, and employee relations within Aetherbloom's growing team. This role will ensure we hire and retain the best talent, manage HR processes in compliance with South African legislation, and maintain a positive and high-performance workplace culture aligned with UK client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from job posting and sourcing to interviews and onboarding.
Develop and maintain candidate pipelines for customer service, support, and operations roles.
Implement assessment methods to evaluate skills, English proficiency, and UK accent comprehension.
Coordinate and conduct interviews alongside hiring managers.
Build relationships with local institutions, job boards, and social impact partners to source diverse talent.
HR Operations & Compliance
Develop and maintain employee contracts, HR records, and payroll information in line with South African laws (BCEA, POPIA, UIF, PAYE, SDL, Employment Equity Act).
Manage onboarding and induction programmes for new hires.
Maintain up-to-date HR policies, ensuring they are clearly communicated and consistently applied.
Support performance management processes, including probation reviews and appraisals.
Employee Engagement & Retention
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment.
Address employee relations issues, resolving conflicts promptly and professionally.
Implement initiatives to improve morale, engagement, and retention.
Facilitate internal communications and staff feedback mechanisms.
Training & Development Support
Work closely with the Training & QA Lead to ensure new hires receive all required training.
Identify training needs and recommend professional development opportunities.
Reporting & Metrics
Maintain recruitment and HR dashboards, tracking time-to-hire, attrition rates, and other KPIs.
Provide regular updates to senior management on workforce trends and recommendations.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years' experience in HR and recruitment, preferably within a call centre/BPO environment.
Strong knowledge of South African labour laws and compliance requirements.
Proven track record in high-volume recruitment and talent management.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
Proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace, and HRIS/ATS systems.
Preferred
Experience working with UK-based clients or teams.
Familiarity with employment equity and diversity initiatives.
Working Conditions
Hybrid role: Combination of remote work and regular office-based days in Johannesburg.
Standard office hours, with occasional flexibility for recruitment needs.
