Job Summary JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Title: HR Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish the HR Department:

  • Build the HR function from scratch, including systems, processes, tools, and reporting structures across all locations.
Policy Development & Implementation:
  • Draft, implement, and communicate company-wide HR policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with labour legislation and business needs.
Labour Relations & CCMA Representation:
  • Lead all labour relations efforts, including handling disciplinary processes, grievances, and dispute resolution. Represent the company at the CCMA and other regulatory bodies.
Talent Management:
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee development, performance management, and succession planning across multiple sites.
Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with all labour laws and regulations. Conduct regular HR audits and risk assessments to identify gaps and ensure legal and operational alignment.
Employee Engagement & Communication:
  • Foster a positive working environment through proactive communication, engagement initiatives, and alignment of HR strategy with company culture.
Multi-Site Operations:
  • Manage HR functions and provide support across all business units in Johannesburg, Newcastle, Cape Town, and Limpopo, ensuring consistency and adaptability to local workforce needs.
SOP'S:
  • Develop and implement HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, training & development, and offboarding.
End To End Recruitment:
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including workforce planning, job profiling, sourcing, interviewing, offer management, onboarding, and induction.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Proven experience as a generalist HR Manager, preferably in a start-up or multi-site environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices.
  • Strong CCMA experience and the ability to represent the company independently in all labour-related matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up an HR department independently and work without immediate support
  • Experience in managing a diverse workforce, including executives, managers, and blue-collar employees.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willingness to travel between sites as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma or certification in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or related field (essential).
  • Postgraduate diploma or certification in Labour Relations or Industrial Law (advantageous).
  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior HR role.
PACKAGE & REMUNERATION:
Compensation will be determined based on qualifications, applicable experience, and previous earnings.
