Job Description


Job location: Cato Ridge/Hillcrest - DBN

Main purpose of the position:

Drive the Human Capital agenda in the company by ensuring that the HR strategies are formulated to support the business strategy in line with the business plans.

Build a culture where all employees are proud to belong and aspire to dedicate their services to achieve the vision and mission of the organization both in the short and long run.

Routine/Direct:

HR Business Partners (2)

Payroll and HR Administrator

Key responsibilities:

HR Strategy formulation

Formulate the HR strategies in line with the business strategies.

Review the HR strategy from time to time to ensure it communicates with the aspirations of the business.

Ensure full compliance of the HR strategy by the business leaders ad other stakeholders.

Communicate the HR strategy to all levels of employees in the company.

HR Policy drafting

Draft and present to the business leaders for review and approval HR policies to support the operations of the business.

Formulate policies that are in compliance with the laws of the country and best practices in the industry.

Review and discard polices that have been overtaken with new trends in the industry.

Talent Development

Identify talent and put in place policies to support talent development.

Set up a reward policy for talent to ensure there is retention of talent already in the company/attract new talent.

Continuously review the talent plans to ensure they communicate well with the current business plans/future plans.

Gradually manage exit plan for talent that perform below the business expectations.

Business partner to the operations

Provide HR leadership to line managers to be able to make routine decisions as first line HR managers at their levels.

Provide practical HR solutions to address our operations specific requirements.

Drive performance management

Ensure there is robust performance appraisal system in place.

Ensure there is annual and mid year appraisal to address training needs of the employees and give employees feedback on areas of improvement.

Ensure the poor performers are supported to improve their performance/manage their exit if no improvement is observed.

HR reporting

Ensure that all agreed reports are prepared in good time.

High degree of the reports accuracy is maintained.

The reports are shared at the management level for decision making.

Benchmark Compliance

Ensure the business operates within the approved benchmark numbers.

Review nonessential services in the company and outsource without compromising on efficiency.

Ensure all recruitment adheres with the benchmark commitment.

Recruitment of employees

Ensure that the recruitment is in line with the budget guidelines.

Employees recruited meet the minimum criteria for the position with a potential to be developed to senior roles.

Ensure there is diversity in all recruitments and the choices are based on merit.

Industrial Relations

Ensure there is good industrial relations in the company.

Labour disputes are resolved in good time without compromising the company ethics.

Respect for diversity in all our issues that we may not find a common approach as a people of one family.

Learning, Training and Development

Work with line managers to identify learning needs of their teams.

Design, both in-house and with expert third parties, a solution which includes a blended approach to learning such as coaching, classroom learning sessions and action learning.

Management of the training budget for the year

Liaise with possible collaborating institutions to support learning and development of employees.

Budgetary responsibility:

Prepare the HR budget for the year.

Monitor the budgetary compliance of the budget.

Ensure compliance of the manpower budget

Procurement responsibility:

Procurement of goods and services through the supply chain office in line with the budget guidelines

KEY SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION

Qualifications required:

Minimum academic qualification: Under-graduate Degree in Human Resources Management / or equivalent

Qualifications as an added advantage: Honours

Professional registration: Member of SABPP

Experience required:

General work experience (years): eight years plus working experience in large organisations

Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): six years plus at a senior management level

Industry: Over 2 years

Result oriented individual.

Ability to relate well with both senior and junior employees from diverse backgrounds.

Computer literacy:

One that can provide leadership in difficult business situations to ensure the company remains competitive without losing market share in the worst of times.

Additional/specific work requirements:

Good knowledge and understanding of business processes.

A key business partner in driving the company strategy.

Ability to work well with external authorities and other stakeholders.
