Job Title: Human Resources Industrial Relations Legal Generalist

Responsibilities:
Legal Compliance:

  • Stay current on labour laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures comply with local, state, and South African employment laws.
  • Provide legal guidance on HR policies, procedures, and practices.
Industrial Relations:
  • Act as a liaison between management and employees to address and resolve workplace disputes.
  • Manage and facilitate collective bargaining agreements and negotiations.
  • Advise on employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Contract Management:
  • Review, draft, and negotiate employment contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Provide guidance on the interpretation and enforcement of contractual agreements.
Dispute Resolution and Disciplinary Action:
  • Mediate and resolve disputes between employees and management.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings related to employment matters.
Training and Development:
  • Develop and deliver training programs on employment law, compliance, and industrial relations.
Risk Management:
  • Assess potential legal risks and provide proactive solutions to mitigate them.
  • Work with the legal team to defend the company in legal actions related to employment matters.
Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with HR, management, and legal teams to ensure a cohesive and compliant approach to employment matters.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with external legal counsel, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Tertiary education in Human Resources, Industrial Relations and Legislation
  • Minimum of [3] years of experience in employment law, industrial relations, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of labour laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven experience in collective bargaining and union relations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
