HR BUSINESS PARTNER - R 45,000pm - STELLENBOSCH, CPT

We're looking for a proactive and experienced HR Business Partner - Operations to join our team and play a key role in shaping how we attract, develop, and support our operational workforce. In this role, you'll work closely with senior operations leaders to align HR practices with business goals, drive a high-performance culture, and make a real impact across multiple business units.

What you'll be doing:
1. People & Culture:
Collaborate closely with operational teams to understand business goals and tailor HR support to meet those needs.
Oversee end-to-end HR activities including:
Hiring processes that align with workforce planning and operational timelines
Smooth employee integration through well-structured onboarding experiences
Coordinated exit procedures, gathering feedback to help shape retention efforts
Advise line managers on a range of employee matters such as disciplinary action, incapacity, grievances, and team disputes.
Ensure labour practices, policies, and procedures are applied consistently and lawfully.
Contribute to talent development by supporting succession planning and leadership growth within operations.
Track and interpret HR data and workforce trends to guide decisions and improve outcomes.
Play an active role in driving organisational change and employee engagement initiatives.
Serve as a reliable HR partner for operations, offering day-to-day advice and long-term people strategies.
Maintain high standards of governance by ensuring proper documentation, compliance checks, and statutory reporting.
2. Payroll Oversight:
Maintain updated employee pay schedules, including changes due to new hires, exits, and adjustments.
Execute bi-weekly and monthly payroll tasks-verifying data, completing reconciliations, and reviewing inputs.
Ensure accurate and timely payroll submissions and reports to the Group Financial Manager for processing and oversight.
Administer additional financial items such as bonuses, commissions, deductions, and loan repayments.
Respond to payroll queries-ranging from tax, leave balances, to salary administration concerns.
Manage all aspects of leave tracking and administration.
Handle bi-annual and annual submissions to SARS (EMP501).
Ensure all payroll records and supporting documents are properly organised and filed.
Manage benefits-related reporting, including medical aid and pension/provident fund schedules.
Submit required quarterly labour statistics reports (STATSSA) in line with regulations.
Requirements

  • Relevant HR related Bachelors Degree
  • Relevant legislation i.e. BCEA, Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Workman's Compensation Act, Skills Development Act
  • 5 years work experience in an HR Environment (large company experience advantageous 1000+ employees)
  • Someone with a strong and firm personality would be a perfect fit for this position.
  • Experience in the Logistics / Manufacturing and Storage industry would be an advantage.
  • Payroll experience - the HR component is critical and the payroll aspect will function more as a backup, but the person must be fully capable of managing payroll when others on leave so must have payroll experience as well.
  • Excellent at building rapport and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Solid understanding of business operations with the ability to link HR practices to operational goals.
  • Confident in resolving issues and making sound decisions, even under pressure.
  • Clear and effective communicator with strong facilitation abilities.
  • Trustworthy, professional, and discreet when handling sensitive matters.
  • Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working without constant supervision.
  • Brings a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and works well in a team environment.
