Job Description


Our client, a Global leader in the ICT industry is seeking to URGENTLY appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Head, to be based in their Johannesburg, South Africa Offices.

MAIN PURPOSE FOR THE ROLE:

  • To manage Sub-Saharan SA health, safety, security, and Environmental efforts, covering employees, visitors, offices, towers, and other assets and ensuring that operations are aligned with set company objectives, backed by the appropriate governance structure.
KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
  • At minimum a degree in a relevant HSSE discipline,
  • At least 8 10 years extensive experience in HSSE and Field Security.
  • At least 10 years relevant experience involving increasing scope, responsibility and complexity in security, law enforcement, and criminal justice.
  • Evidence of strong and extensive network across security arms/ bodies, e.g. army, police force, etc.
  • Proven leadership experience in building, managing and inspiring physical security operations teams.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee and manage all areas of the Security organization related to the employees, infrastructure, minimize environmental risks encompassing Field Operations, Investigation & Intelligence, Physical Security Operations Centre, and Technical Response.
  • Develop and implement the overall physical security strategy for the company, its employees, tower portfolio, and other assets/ properties. Embed technology-based solutions including but not limited to access control systems and intrusion and dictating systems.
  • Collaborate with functional leaders to develop and implement a physical security program that aligns with identified risks and threats.
  • Deliver reports to senior management on security intelligence, risks, and other related matters.
  • Establish an effective and efficient framework for investigating, analysing, and reporting all physical security incidents, including internal and external infractions concerning the company.
  • Foster and strengthen ongoing partnerships/ relationships with key external stakeholders, including heads and staff of federal and state law enforcement, 3rd-party vendors, and community organizations Abroad.
  • Ensure regular security awareness sessions are staged across the business via available internal communication channels/ platforms.
  • Foster a data-driven mindset in decision-making among Security staff.
  • Ensure that robust trackers/ databases/ systems are implemented to source, collect, track, analyse and report security incidents and intelligence information which is critical to the security of the companys operations and its employees.
  • Build and scale an efficient physical security operations centre model that effectively monitors the companys towers and properties against threats.
  • Develop and roll-out a framework for effectively managing a contracted guard force responsible for securing the companys tower and other physical sites.
  • Provide inputs in developing and implementing the companys Business Continuity Plan and Health, Safety & Environment objectives.
  • Ensure that the building and tower sites are clear of health and safety hazards.
  • Align with technical team to ensure inspections are done timeously.
  • Lead initiatives to reinforce the physical security of our building, towers, and sensitive areas.
  • Manage and deploy security personnel to effectively monitor and respond to security incidents.
  • Implement cutting-edge surveillance and access control systems to enhance our overall security posture.
  • Make sure all people visiting the sites are legitimate and certified to work on towers.
  • Assessment of risks related to the health, safety and security of the building and towers.
  • Establish and maintain a robust incident reporting system.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of security incidents, investigations, and resolutions.
  • Analyse incident data to identify trends and implement proactive security measures.
  • Champion compliance with health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Design and enforce safety protocols to protect the well-being of our employees and visitors.
  • Ensure effective safety training sessions and drills.
  • Establish good relationships with the SAPS/security forces.
  • Ensure that health and safety requirements are always met by HIS on both building and tower sites.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.
