To ensure that all health and safety regulations, procedures, and standards are implemented and complied with across all work sites, in line with legal requirements and organizational policies. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a safe work environment and preventing workplace accidents and injuries.
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent qualification.
Valid registration with
SACPCMP
(South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions) as a
Health and Safety Officer (CHSO)
.
At least
3-5 years' experience
in a health and safety role within the construction or industrial environment.
Sound knowledge of the
Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
and related regulations.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various sites.
SAMTRAC or equivalent additional training will be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and monitor health and safety policies, programs, and procedures.
Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory health and safety requirements.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; compile reports and recommend corrective actions.
Deliver safety induction and toolbox talks to employees and subcontractors.
Maintain health and safety documentation and records.
Liaise with Department of Labour and other regulatory bodies when required.
Support management in establishing a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.
Assist with preparation and updating of SHE files and safety plans.
