Architect, set and define the Standard Bank Group Sponsorship Strategy in line with the Group Strategy, Marketing Strategy and business objectives. Manage and oversee the execution of the strategy across the Group. Develop and drive a winning portfolio of sponsorships that can be leveraged to deliver distinctive client experiences that deliver commercial value to the Group and business units. Establish and maintain a centre of excellence to all business units and countries on sponsorship.

Qualifications:

  • A Degree or Post Graduate Degree in Marketing.
Experience:
  • The role requires an expert in Marketing with profound knowledge of the full dimensions of the field and deep expertise in Brand and Sponsorship Marketing. Branding and Marketing savvy, a proven ability to develop sponsorship and marketing strategies and to influence all levels of employees to effectively enhance brand engagement and brand reputation management. Experience in Sports Marketing and/or an understanding of the Arts would be beneficial.
  • The role requires an expert in Marketing with profound knowledge of the full dimensions of the field, deep expertise in Brand and Sponsorship Marketing. Branding and Marketing savvy, a proven ability to develop sponsorship and marketing strategies and to influence all levels of employees to effectively enhance brand engagement and brand reputation management.
Additional Information

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interact at a senior leadership level (i.e. GLC) dealing with country and segment CE's as well as Marketing Heads, by having strong recommendations about acquiring, continuing or ending specific sponsorships. Strong strategic insights will be necessary.
  • Architect and define medium to long term (5-10 years) Group Sponsorship strategy, leaning into what the overall Group Strategy is as well as what the Marketing Strategy is.
  • Considering what the Group Sponsorship Strategy will be in future. Execute and control the Sponsorship strategy that spans all business units and includes strategic theme selection, setting strategic objectives and targets, tactical management planning, resource deployment, designing effective sponsorship structures and better practices, designing and monitoring effective measurement systems and balanced scorecards. Identifying and securing strategic sponsorships aligned to the social impact agenda.
  • Define the operating model for all stakeholders and countries by defining a governance structure, ways of work, approvals and strategics alignments. Secure and negotiate rights with the different right holders. Manager the Bank's properties so that there are no reputational damage linked to the sponsorships. Measure and track return of investments.
  • Lead and drive the development and implementation of marketing plans to deliver on the Standard Bank Sponsorship Strategy in the overall quest to manage Standard Bank's reputation and create close connections with the key target audiences.
  • Coordinate the overall financial management of large scale sponsorship and projects, which include budgets, recoveries, vendor payments and cost center management, in order to ensure sound financial control.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial and effective strategic relationship between the Sponsorship COE, business units and countries to ensure that sponsorship are leveraged in support of business unit objectives.
