JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to take responsibility for the global taxes from business development activities of Engie in South Africa and for the supervision of compliance tax matters arising in all the business lines of Engie in South Africa. In addition, the role will include the assessment and monitoring of tax risks for the country.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide tax support in relation to new investments/divestments and existing operations in South Africa, identifying opportunities and risks (from a financial and tax point of view) and adding value to M&A and Business Development teams
To monitor the local/group (debt and equity) structures
To identify and alert about tax reforms including the potential impacts for the business. To provide tax advisory regarding new fiscal rules.
To be responsible for the overall tax compliance with domestic or international rules of the Engie entities having business in South Africa and that the Tax management internal processes in South Africa are efficient (timely filing of accurate tax returns, timely payment or recovery of taxes, transfer pricing documentation, monitoring of tax audits and litigations, Group tax reporting, etc.). This includes all relevant tax types in the country. VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, Corporation tax, Provisonal tax, Dividends tax, etc.
To manage and coordinate VAT recoveries from SARS
To monitor and manage the tax audits and litigations in South Africa, and more generally identify and monitor tax risks
To review and explain local P&L and cash tax budgets, forecasts and actuals, including the effective tax rate in compliance with corporate and local guidelines and policies
To manage and coordinate tax advisor relationships and engagements, and manage costs
Assist the Group with compliance regarding Pillar 2, Country by Country Reporting and CFC rules
Development of robust internal tax policies with respect to income tax and transfer pricing, in line with the Group's Internal Tax Control Framework

Tax efficient structures for new South African developments/projects
No unexpected tax liabilities arising in South Africa
Minimum South African tax leakage at Group level
Tax advisory fees in line with budget, and advices reliable and consistent
Regular feedback to Group Tax
Compliance with local tax obligations
Group compliant internal tax policies for robust tax controls and governance
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Knowledge and Skills:

Experience:
International & Corporate Tax experience within Big Four / large tax law firms (6 to 10 years), or 8 years being Head of Tax in a large company (energy, mining, or oil & gas sector preferred). In-house experience preferred

Qualifications:
University Degree
Chartered Accountant or Chartered Tax Advisor
