Job Description


Our Client in Sandton is looking for a Head of Security

Must have a Psira and gun competency certificate

Strategic Planning:

Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.

Identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities and develop mitigation plans.

Stay current with emerging security threats and industry best practices.

Team Leadership:

Manage a team of security professionals, including security managers, officers, and support staff.

Provide leadership, training, and guidance to the security team.

Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Security Operations:

Oversee day-to-day security operations, including access control, surveillance, and physical security.

Manage the deployment of security personnel to ensure adequate coverage.

Coordinate emergency response and crisis management procedures.

Risk Assessment and Management:

Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities.

Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and protocols to address identified risks.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of security measures.

Security Technology:

Evaluate and recommend security technology solutions, including CCTV systems, access control systems, and alarm systems.

Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of security equipment.

Stay informed about advancements in security technology.

Compliance and Regulations:

Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to security.

Maintain records and documentation to demonstrate compliance.

Interface with law enforcement and regulatory agencies as needed.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the security department's budget, including resource allocation and cost control.

Optimize spending to maximize security effectiveness.

Emergency Response:

Develop and update emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and crisis communication.

Coordinate with relevant stakeholders during emergency situations.

Training and Education:

Provide security training and awareness programs for employees.

Conduct drills and exercises to prepare staff for emergencies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Proven experience in security management, with a minimum of 5-7 years in progressively responsible roles.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Knowledge of security technology and systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyze complex security issues and make sound decisions.

Certification in relevant security and safety programs (e.g., Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified Security Management Professional (CSMP)) is advantageous.

Experience in crisis management and emergency response.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct and integrity.
