Job Description

Malander is seeking an experienced Head of Regulatory Reporting to lead the regulatory compliance function for a client based in Inanda, Sandton for a period of 3-6 months. The ideal candidate must be a qualified Chartered Accountant and available to start immediately. This critical role involves ensuring the accurate preparation, submission, and integrity of financial reports required by local and international regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure timely and accurate submission of regulatory reports, including Basel III capital adequacy reports, liquidity coverage ratio (LCR), and net stable funding ratio (NSFR);
• Stay updated on local and international regulatory requirements (e.g., central banks, Basel Committee, IFRS).

2. Reporting:

• Oversee the preparation of regulatory reports, including financial statements, capital adequacy, risk-weighted assets, and liquidity metrics;
• Validate and reconcile data for accuracy and completeness before submission.

3. Stakeholder Management:

• Liaise with regulatory authorities, internal and external auditors to address queries and provide necessary information;
• Communicate regulatory changes and their impact to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

4. Data Management and Governance:

• Implement robust data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity and consistency;
• Oversee the extraction, validation, and transformation of data to meet reporting requirements.

5. Policy Implementation:

• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for regulatory reporting to align with compliance standards and best practices;
• Update internal processes and systems to adhere to changes in regulatory frameworks.

6. Risk and Issue Management:

• Identify and mitigate risks associated with non-compliance or reporting errors;
• Develop contingency plans to address gaps or delays in reporting processes.

7. System Enhancements:

• Collaborate with IT and finance teams to enhance or implement reporting systems, including data automation and reporting tools;
• Ensure reporting systems are adaptable to evolving regulatory changes.

8. Strategic Planning:

• Provide insights and analysis on regulatory trends to inform senior management's strategic decisions;
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the bank's operations and capital structure.

9. Audit and Review:

• Coordinate with internal and external auditors for reviews of regulatory reports and processes;
• Maintain documentation and audit trails for all submitted reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA));
• 5+ years of experience in regulatory reporting within the banking or financial services industry;
• In-depth knowledge of Basel III, IFRS, and local regulatory frameworks;
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills;
• Experience with data governance and reporting systems is highly advantageous.
