Position: Head of People and Talent Location: Cape Town Key Responsibilities: 1. People Strategy & Culture
Develop and lead the People & Talent strategy aligned to our growth goals and values.
Actively champion a culture where we have fun, care, work together, and get work done.
Embed and model our values in all people practices, communication, and leadership activities.
As a growing business, we are upscaling using theScaling Up framework by Verne Harnish-- this role will be responsible for studying, applying, and integrating its principles across the people function.
2. Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand
Position the company as an employer of choice by designing and executing a compelling recruitment strategy.
Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle, ensuring a consistent, values-driven approach to attracting and selecting top talent.
Develop effective onboarding experiences so new hires feel connected and productive from day one.
3. Learning, Development & Leadership
Design and implement training, coaching, and leadership development programs for all levels.
Establish and manage an internship pipeline to build future talent.
Organize the annual all-staff conference for 300 people, ensuring impactful learning with fun, and manage all event logistics end to end.
Coordinate smaller departmental team-building events throughout the year.
4. Performance, Engagement & Feedback
Lead the performance management process, including goal setting, feedback, development planning, and annual reviews.
Train and support managers in coaching, performance conversations, and handling complex employee relations cases.
Regularly conduct employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) surveys and other engagement feedback to measure and improve the employee experience.
Foster a high-performance, high-engagement environment where everyone is clear on expectations and recognized for results.
5. Compensation, Benefits & Reward
Oversee fair and competitive pay structures that align with the market and reward performance.
Manage benefits programs, ensuring compliance and smooth administration.
Maintain accurate grading structures and remuneration frameworks across the business.
6. HR Operations & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all labour laws, health and safety, employment equity, and social & ethical requirements.
Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures that are legally compliant and culturally relevant.
Oversee payroll, HR systems, and employee records to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
7. Social Responsibility & Wellbeing
Drive social investment initiatives and wellbeing programs that support our people and communities.
Lead the design and rollout of strategies to promote purpose and impact across the company.
