Job Description


We are seeking a Head of Merchandising Procurement for a position based in Johannesburg.

Purpose Statement

Head of Merchandising Procurement is accountable for the development, maintenance and growth of the merchandising function through maintaining a world class catalogue of products and delivery of the end product to consumers on time and as per specification.

Education (Formal Qualification Required)

  • Minimum - Relevant Bachelorxe2x80x99s Degree
  • Advantageous - Procurement qualification
Legal Requirements (e.g. Driverxe2x80x99s License, Blasting Certificate, etc.)
  • Driverxe2x80x99s license
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of business model for procurement and sales of clothing
  • Knowledge of development and marketing of merchandising catalogue
  • Knowledge of clothing retail industry
  • Knowledge of product distribution channels
  • Knowledge of commercial management of products
  • Knowledge of corporate merchandising
  • Knowledge of brand management
Experience (Minimum Experience Required - type and number of years)
  • Minimum - 10 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in Corporate Merchandising with at least 5 being at a senior level
  • 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience managing a corporate merchandising program
  • Advantageous - Commercial clothing experience, Enterprise development experience, Design experience
Position Description

Key Performance Area / Main Output & Detailed Description / Inputs

Development and Management of the Merchandising Model
  • Develop and implement an effective merchandising model and product delivery framework
  • Develop and manage the LOJA KPIS that underpin an effective delivery model
  • Manage the merchandising function to support the delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective product
Catalogue Management and Refresh
  • Manage the catalogue publishing and refresh cycle
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine the product needs of the business
  • Managing the design and creation of products as well as the catalogue
  • Validate catalogue concepts with key internal stakeholders
  • Sets the pricing of products within catalogue
Driving and Sourcing of Sales
  • Create and manage an annual events calendar to define the annual sales pipeline
  • Review sales pipeline and make amendments in order to achieve sales targets
  • Identify opportunities for increased sales internally and externally
  • Report on sales target achievements
  • Report on trends in sales and demand for products
Stakeholder Management
  • Work with key stakeholders to create visibility of Loja products and offerings
  • Review and act on feedback on the service and products delivered
  • Action changes to products and delivery models as per feedback
  • Work with executive stakeholders to ensure their requirements are met from a catalogue perspective
Product Delivery
  • Set performance requirements and define service level agreements for the logistics department to manage the delivery of product on time
  • Mange the performance of the logistics department as per service level agreements
  • Review product delivery lead times and manage product orders accordingly
  • Take accountability of product delivery to customers
Management of the Loja Changing Lives Impact
  • Identify opportunities to support and enhance the changing life initiative through the delivery of products
  • Identify potential suppliers of products that support the changing life principles
  • Deliver on requirements in the Loja space
Budget Management
  • Develop, control and manage the Merchandising budget
  • Manage all costs and deliverables and track the budget spend
  • Review expenditure to budget
People Management
  • Provide the regional marketing teams with the best marketing tools to maximise casa sales within their regions
  • Convey an understanding of the Brand guidelines and how they are to be applied to the national marketing team
  • Provide clear briefs to the national marketing team to ensure PR activities enhance Brand and product awareness
  • Manage the performance and potential of direct team, recognising individual differences in terms of career objectives, expertise, culture, interests, and other factors to facilitate working relationships
  • Build the capability of direct team
  • Provide coaching, direction and mentorship to team members in order to support problem solving, assess productivity and recommend changes where required
  • Create an engaged and motivated workforce within their team by ensuring the implementation of training initiatives and the establishment of an environment that fosters wellbeing, learning and development
