Job Description

BSH Home Appliances (Pty) Ltd has two vacancies for a Head of Marketing based in Sandton (37 Commerce Crescent).



Objective of the position



As the Head of Marketing for BSH Home Appliances in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, the primary objective is to drive brand visibility, market penetration, and revenue growth through strategic brand and product marketing initiatives. This entails developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the company's objectives, focusing on brand positioning, product launches, and market expansion. The ultimate goal is to strengthen brand equity, enhance consumer engagement, and achieve sustainable business growth in the region. Additionally, fostering a high-performing marketing team, ensuring effective budget management, and staying abreast of market trends are essential objectives to fulfill the role's mandate successfully.

Minimum Requirements



Bachelor's degree in Marketing Management or related field; Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing roles within the consumer electronics or home appliances industry. At least 3 years of management/leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to lead, motivate and mentor a team effectively. Proven track record of regular dealer contact, with experience in dealer communication and relationship management. Strong background in product management, including experience in product positioning, pricing, and lifecycle management. Demonstrated expertise in digital marketing, including proficiency in SEO/SEM, social media marketing, email campaigns, and online advertising. Experience in Above-The-Line (ATL) marketing activities, such as television, radio, and print advertising campaigns. Previous involvement in shop fitting management, overseeing the design, co-ordination and implementation of retail store layouts and displays (including budget management). Familiarity with market research methodologies and data analysis tools to inform strategic decision-making. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and regions. Knowledge of South African and Sub-Saharan African markets, including cultural nuances and consumer preferences, is highly desirable. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.

Business Plan (BP)



Support the BP planning process, focusing on brand & product strategy, activities, and budgeting for fiscal year planning. Develop a comprehensive brands development plan to enhance brand value and increase sales.

Brand Strategy



Position local brand portfolio in line with central guidelines and considering local target groups to boost sales and brand value.

Product & Program Strategy



Develop and implement local product & program strategies to realize market potential for the brands.

Planning



Create a marketing plan with target setting for all brands based on BSH planning template. Select and define brand objectives & topics for the subsidiary, considering launch calendar, strategic brand topics, and local events. Coordinate brand development objectives (KPIs) with various departments. Compile yearly media plan and provide it to relevant stakeholders.

Marketing Budget



Define, allocate, and control the marketing budget according to the marketing mix. Agree on budget planning & structure via business plan procedure with relevant stakeholders.

Competitor Analysis



Initiate and conduct local analyses to identify market potential, including brand strategy, positioning, and spending. Discuss, define, and implement measures based on analysis findings.

Brand Marketing



Ensure integrated brand communication across all media channels to create/enhance brand image aligned with brand positioning and international guidelines. Coordinate brand communication approval process. Develop and execute promotions, tradeshows, and dealer communication. Define and manage cooperation with agencies, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of media spendings. Ensure use of standard tools and processes as defined in the brand management compendium.

Product Marketing



Define country-specific product lines & products based on BSH product platforms in conjunction with sales & product divisions. Specify positioning and determine target sell-in prices in collaboration with sales units & product divisions. Generate product ideas based on market analyses and assess marketability & economic viability. Manage product training processes internally and externally.

Monitoring & Research



Gather and document relevant market information through various channels. Monitor relevant brand and product KPIs and take appropriate actions to reach targets.

General Management



Ensure best possible processes to reach targets, encourage innovation, and manage or support relevant projects. Provide/report statistics such as sales forecasts and general market information. Manage the assigned budget effectively.

Personnel Management / Leadership



Lead marketing staff, including recruiting, development, and employee release. Support team members in reaching targets through feedback, evaluation, and training. Ensure best possible knowledge management for self and assigned staff/organization.
