Job Purpose:
As Head Internal Control & Assurance you will be accountable for establishing and maintaining a robust internal control environment that supports organizational objectives, enhances governance, and mitigates risks, ensure compliance with regulations and standards, safeguard assets, enhance the reliability of financial reporting and foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability.

Number of employees reporting to role: 4 direct reports and working indirectly with Finance Managers and Finance Controllers across the group

Requirements:
Principal Accountabilities:

• Lead and develop a team of highly motivated and skilled employees to deliver maximum impact in the organisation.
• Own, develop, implement and maintain Control policies, financial risk matrices and mitigations frameworks
• Own, develop, implement and maintain escalation frameworks, which ensures the timely escalation of key risks to appropriate levels of management
• Own the monitoring and monthly reporting of the Group's control framework across finance and operational business areas (including MOA, SOX compliance)
• Consolidate the preparation of the monthly dashboards on Finance metrics (Stocks dashboards, Goal Zero Checklist, Accounts reconciliation); identify key areas requiring business interventions
• Leverage automation to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of control monitoring across the group
• Recommend improvements to address root-causes of control deficiencies and advise the business, including senior management, in internal control / operational best practices & project manage improvement plans
• Track control intervention action plans across the group, ensuring year on year improvement in financial risk management and process outcomes
• Deliver clear concise reporting to articulate findings and impact to senior management and Board committees.
• Conduct Business & Country control reviews (BCR and CSR), following an annual plan and report on findings after each review.
• Track intervention plans and escalations, share best practices
• Provide annual and ad hoc training on the control framework

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experiences:
Essential

• ACCA / B Com Accounting / CIMA / CIA or equivalent
• 7-10 years of experience in a Finance function with 5 years' experience financial risk management
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
• Proven track record of delivering year on year control improvement across multiple countries and process areas

Desirable (if required)

• Downstream Oil and Gas experience
