Skills & Experience:
-10 years post article experience
- Responsible for overseeing the entire accounting function of the Life Company, including monthly management accounts, quarterly board reports, interim reporting and year end accounts, including preparation of the annual report and liaising with external and internal auditors.
- Prepare the financial directors report to be included in the board packs.
- Overseeing the annual budgeting process for the group. This includes the consolidation of departmental expense budgets and the complete income statement budget.
- Overseeing the preparation of forecasts to be presented at group executive strategy sessions, including 5 year forecasts.
- Responsible for the tax affairs of the company, ie. income tax calculations, VAT apportionment calculations, submission of tax returns, SARS queries.
- Responsible for overseeing regulatory requirements and reporting.
- Involvement on various committees. These include internal control committee, internal financial control committee, audit committee.
- Responsible for the group payroll function.
- Responsible for the implementation of the new insurance standard, IFRS17, which is currently being implemented.
- Focused on the automation of controls and processes within the Finance area. This includes the implementation of various systems.
