Job Summary

Our client is a dynamic and innovate Fintech company headquartered in Stellenbosch, South Africa. They specialise in providing cutting-edge financial solutions to empower businesses and individuals to manage their finances by providing access to already earned wages.

As they continue to expand their operations, we are seeking a motivated, skilled and experienced Chartered Accountant with Financial Management experience, to join their team as Head of Finance. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in steering financial strategies, managing accounts, and fostering strong relationships with financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities * Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure transparency and accuracy in financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Management Accounts
  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive and accurate management accounts within agreed timelines.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to provide insights into project performance and variances.
  • Bank Relationship Management:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with banking partners.
  • Coordinate financing arrangements, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with banking covenants.
  • Cash Flow Management:
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and optimization to support project requirements.
  • Implement effective cash flow management strategies.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Monitor budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Financial & Tax Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in negotiations with external partners, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify financial risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide recommendations for improving financial processes to minimize risks.
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge management
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team (Current size of 3)
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture.
  • Represent Finance on an Executive level at Management / Board meetings.
  • Other:
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Monitor financial transactions and recommend process improvements for efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and insights.
  • Oversight of insurance portfolio and insurance accounting.
  • Fixed assets register maintenance.
The role reports to the CEO and Group CFO.

Requirements:
  • A Bachelors Degree and Postgraduate qualification in Finance or Accounting.
  • Professional Qualification (e.g. CA(SA))
  • 4 - 8 Years Post Articles Financial Management experience
  • Proficiency in ERP / Accounting Software (ideally Xero) and MS Excel.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting practices.
  • Familiarity with Financial modeling and Data Analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong organisational and management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Enthusiasm for the Fintech industry and eagerness to learn.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Prior experience in a Fintech or technology-related company will be beneficial
