Head up a development team with a vested interest in making Senior Living sexy!

Our client is a dynamic, zestful property development company who have been vital in pioneering the re-invention of Senior Living in South Africa. With an interest in delivering high quality products that improve lifestyle, they source development and redevelopment opportunities and are geared towards creatively designing and developing unique upmarket residential spaces for the over 70 population.

An old, funky team who are interested in reframing the status quo of how golden-ager dwellers live, they are based in the heart of Johannesburg North. With that being said, they are looking for a sharp-witted, problem solver to oversee their development team. Travelling often between sites in national metropolitans, they will be responsible for overseeing 2 other professionals in the Development team while reporting directly to the CEO. Sitting on the company's leadership team you will not be afraid to be the voice in the room going against the grain providing strategic planning, project management and financial oversight of new development projects, site acquisitions and projects already within development.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Heading up acquisitions including managing all due diligence process to mitigate any potential risks.
  • Conducting feasibility studies.
  • Managing the townplanning/zoning process.
  • Negotiating and structuring deals with the Executive team.
  • Securing pipeline for future projects.
  • Running and planning new and existing projects, ensuring that they are delivered within the specified time period.
  • Driving project concept, brief and market product.
  • Heading up the unit design.
  • Managing detailed design phase of projects ensuring the company's brand is adhered to.
  • Oversight of tender approval and budget management.
  • Cash Flow forecasting and submitting any costs (outside the scope of key contract) for bi-monthly cash flow.
  • Appointing the professional team and ensuring their optimal performance.
  • Managing and leading the development team.
  • Reporting development and review for Leadership, Shareholders and Board Meetings.
  • Strategic oversight of all functions within the Development and Project Team as well as the organisation at large.

The successful incumbent will hold a Property Studies, Construction, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or any related degree, with 8 to 10 years' experience in the Development Planning and Project Management space. It is beneficial to have experience in high-end Residential/Senior Living or Hospitality development space but vital to have had at least 4 years' experience in managing a team of people. Well-articulated with great attention to detail, you will be able to maintain the order of project process and having a willingness to put on any hat when needed.
