ABOUT THE ROLE

The Supply Chain HOD at Leroy Merlin, leads the efficient flow of merchandise throughout the store, ensuring cost-effective, reliable, and streamlined logistics. This role focuses on optimising receiving, inventory control, and order management while supporting business growth and customer satisfaction. With a strong focus on leadership and operational excellence, you'll manage a dynamic team and play a key role in driving the store's overall strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Optimising Merchandise Logistics

Advise Department Managers on streamlining logistics flows and improving operational efficiency. Enforce procedures for merchandise handling, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

Driving Business Growth

Plan and organise merchandise arrivals and special storage for promotional campaigns. Ensure efficient use of storage spaces to support sales growth and operational demands.

Enhancing Customer Service

Deliver fast and reliable merchandise handling aligned with customer expectations. Reduce errors in order handling, enhancing the overall customer experience.

Team recruitment, Training, and Management

Recruit and onboard team members, building a complementary and high-performing workforce. Develop training plans to enhance individual skills, empowering your team towards greater autonomy. Organise work schedules fairly, balancing customer flow with employee expectations. Communicate objectives and celebrate achievements to cultivate a motivated, collaborative team. Organise teamwork and responsibilities. Monitor team actions and develop sales plans. Ensure fairness in scheduling and safety compliance. Initiate and manage disciplinary procedures Comply fully with Health and Safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Proactively manage risks, enforce safe practices, and cultivate a strong safety culture to safeguard people and assets.

Managing Operations and Safety

Organise work schedules and monitor team performance to achieve operational goals. Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols across all logistics processes.

Overseeing Key Areas of Logistics

Receiving Manager: Oversee warehouse operations for receiving and stock replenishment, ensuring accuracy and safety compliance. Inventory Manager: Optimise stock levels, warehouse organisation, and inventory accuracy. Order Management/Outbound Manager: Ensure timely and accurate dispatch of orders, driving outbound efficiency.

Contributing to Strategic Initiatives

Collaborate on store strategy development and implement logistics principles aligned with store goals. Participate in regional, national, and international projects, sharing ideas for logistics improvements.

Maximising Resources and Wealth Creation

Optimise HR allocation and merchandise flow to maximise revenue and margin growth. Guide Department Managers on stock quality and logistics strategies to reduce stockouts and markdowns.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management/Logistics, or related field (preferred). 5+ years of experience in retail management, preferably in a senior leadership role. Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory management, and merchandising techniques. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving departmental profitability. Experience with promotional planning and campaign execution. Familiarity with inventory management software and retail analytics tools. Strong leadership and decision-making skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office suite. Customer-focused approach and ability to drive a high-performance team. Ability to lead the store as a duty manager. * Ability to open and close the store.
