DESCRIPTIONWe are searching for a self-motivated Head of Communications & PR for Amazon's Stores (retail) in South Africa. Part of the Global Communications and Community Impact (GCCI) team, the role will be responsible for all communications activities in the country including Retail, Workplace, Sustainability, Economic & Community Investment, and more.This role involves shaping media relations strategy, promoting and protecting corporate reputation, and leading creative PR campaigns in influencer and owned social media channels. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a track record in executing effective consumer and corporate communications programmes for large organizations.The successful candidate should have leadership experience, as well as an entrepreneurial and goal-oriented approach. Balancing both the strategic and the tactical, they will demonstrate bias for action while diving deep, thinking big, and insisting on the highest standards. They will lead from the front, and will be happy to roll up their sleeves to get the job done. They will be experienced in handling sensitive issues, acting fast with high judgment, making the right measured decisions, and staying calm in situations that (to others) appear unbelievably stressful. They are proficient in providing counsel to senior leaders, helping them make informed business decisions.Key job responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic corporate and consumer PR plans, utilizing media coverage and insights.

• Establish strong relationships with key reporters, fostering impactful coverage and promoting Amazon's reputation.
• Build and maintain relationships with KOLs, including influencers and media personalities.
• Craft strategic plans, press releases, and messaging documents.
• Manage complex communications challenges and unexpected issues.
• Provide counsel to internal executives on short- and long-term challenges.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams globally.
• Manage external PR and content development agencies.

• Track record in social media, digital comms, and influencer campaigns.
• Experience with high-level media contacts and KOLs.
• Cross-channel campaign management, including paid strategies.
• Issues management and message development experience.
• Measuring impacts and benefits of PR programs.
• Managing multiple agencies and budgets.
• Budget oversight and resource management.
