Lead Academic Excellence and Campus Operations in the Agricultural Heartland of Namibia
NUST is seeking a dynamic and experienced academic leader to serve as Head of Rietfontein Campus. This strategic role is central to ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational services, operational efficiency, and student-centred learning at one of the University's regional campuses, with a strong focus on agricultural innovation and rural development.
The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the Campus, lead academic and administrative teams, and ensure alignment with NUST's strategic goals and institutional values.
Job Requirements and Competencies:

  • A relevant Doctorate (NQF Level 10).
  • A Master's degree in Business Administration and/or a qualification in Agriculture or Agricultural Sciences will be an advantage.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in tertiary education or academic administration, including three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated managerial and leadership capabilities, with sound judgement and initiative.
Proven knowledge and understanding of:
  • Academic and student support needs.
  • Integrated Tertiary Software (ITS) or any other relevant software.
  • Student administration, examinations, and finance operations.
  • Project coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Staff management and performance oversight.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Campus Leadership: Oversee, direct, and lead the daily operations of the Rietfontein Campus to ensure high-quality service delivery to students and staff.
  • Academic Excellence: Promote and supervise excellence in teaching, learning, research, innovation, and community service, with a focus on agricultural relevance.
  • Student-Centred Environment: Ensure students are at the heart of all academic activities and foster a supportive, inclusive, and conducive learning environment.
  • Strategic Alignment: Lead staff in achieving the strategic goals of the Campus and the broader University.
  • Marketing and Recruitment: Manage and coordinate marketing and student recruitment activities at the Campus level.
  • Resource Management: Efficiently and effectively manage Campus resources, including human, financial, and physical assets.
  • Project Oversight: Coordinate complex projects involving diverse stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with institutional priorities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, community organisations, and academic collaborators, to enhance the Campus's impact, reputation, and development opportunities.

Terms of Employment
  • Term of Office:A five (5)-year performance-based contract.

  • The normal retirement age is 65. Non-Namibian candidates who are deemed suitable for appointment will be offered a contract of five (5) years.
