Job Summary The Head of Asset Management Shared Services is a senior leadership position within the organisation that holds overall responsibility for the strategic direction, planning, and execution of physical asset management initiatives.
The Head of Asset Management Shared Services is responsible for overseeing all aspects of asset management within the organisation (excluding IT assets), including asset tracking, maintenance, repair, utilisation and disposal. They work closely with various stakeholders, such as senior management, operations teams, maintenance teams, procurement teams, and IT departments, to develop and implement asset management strategies that align with the organisation's goals.
As the Head of Asset Management Shared Services, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of asset management within the group. You will be accountable for the full management function of the Asset Management Shared Services (AMSS) department. You will provide strategic direction, develop policies and procedures and ensure the effective utilisation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of assets across the organisation. This is a senior leadership position that requires strong managerial skills, a deep understanding of asset management principles, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Education.
-Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial)
-Candidates must possess either an MBA or a Six Sigma black belt certification (or an equivalent credential in process improvement). Candidates with equivalent professional experience in lieu of formal credentials will also be considered
Preferred
-Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) or Government Certificate of Competency (GCC), reflecting compliance with South African engineering standards and infrastructure management expertise.
-Practical experience in data analytics (e.g., Power BI) to generate operational insights and support business decision-making.

10+ years experience in Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) / Physical Asset Management, with expertise in strategic lifecycle planning, maintenance optimisation, compliance, and asset performance tracking.

Experience in healthcare environments is highly beneficial, particularly familiarity with regulated, high-compliance operational settings (e.g., hospitals, clinical infrastructure).

Proven experience in developing and implementing asset management strategies and initiatives.

Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Previous exposure to financial budgeting

Commercial and financial awareness, with a full understanding of the impact of failure with regards to business costs and targets.

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
