Head Chef
to lead our kitchen team, elevate our culinary offering, and continue developing Ground as a top food and events destination.
Role Overview
The
Head Chef
oversees all culinary operations across Ground--including private dining experiences, picnics, weddings, private functions, corporate functions, and seasonal events. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional creativity, and the ability to deliver consistent quality under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Menu Development & Food Innovation
Create and develop seasonal menus aligned with Ground's farm-to-table philosophy.
Introduce new dishes, concepts, and tasting experiences.
Innovate based on trends, customer feedback, and event requirements.
Ensure all menus are consistently executed to a high standard.
2. Kitchen Operations & Leadership
Lead and manage the full kitchen team, ensuring smooth daily operations.
Oversee food preparation, presentation, and quality control.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and compliance.
Train, motivate, and inspire junior chefs and kitchen staff.
3. Food Ordering, Stock Management & Cost Control
Manage food purchasing, supplier relationships, and price negotiations.
Monitor stock levels, wastage, and inventory accuracy.
Maintain strict cost control while ensuring quality and freshness.
Work with management on budgeting and profit targets.
4. Event & Service Flexibility
Adapt menus and operations for weddings, functions, private dining, and large events.
Collaborate with event managers to understand menu needs and timelines.
Ensure food is delivered beautifully and on time for all event styles--from plated service to buffets to harvest tables.
Be flexible with extended hours during event peaks.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum
5 years' experience
as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume or fine-dining environment.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Exceptional culinary creativity and attention to detail.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, event-driven environment.
Passion for seasonal, fresh, and visually appealing food.
