for an upmarket restaurant based in

Cape Town City Centre

.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

Strong leadership skills to manage all kitchen departments. Excellent communication and management skills to ensure smooth daily operations between

Back of House

and

Front of House

. Ability to delegate daily food preparation and duties while maintaining the highest quality standards. Execute daily, weekly, and monthly tasks as directed by senior management. Hands-on experience across all kitchen sections:

Hot, Cold, and Pastry

. Coordinate daily operations with the

Sous Chef

and senior kitchen team. Plan daily production requirements and ensure quality control of all raw and cooked products. Develop new recipes and menu items aligned with the restaurant's style and standards. Ensure consistent excellence in food production, preparation, and presentation. Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction while controlling food and operating costs. Experience with stock ordering, par levels, monthly stock takes, and stock input. Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, storage, sanitation, and standard operating procedures. Update recipe cards and accurately cost recipes. Full knowledge of all menu items, preparation methods, and presentation standards. Ensure correct food handling, storage, temperature control, FIFO, and stock rotation. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and report any malfunctions promptly. Create and maintain a safe, clean, and positive working environment. Take personal responsibility for hygiene, safety, and correct equipment use, ensuring team compliance. Work to deadlines while motivating and supporting team members. Conduct regular quality control checks and adhere to service standards. Liaise daily with Restaurant Managers and the Executive Chef regarding operations, functions, and events. Train, guide, and motivate staff to promote efficiency and cost awareness. Lead by example in personal hygiene and professional conduct. Collect daily feedback and report issues as they arise. Perform additional duties as required by management.
Requirements

2-4 years' experience

in a similar Head Chef role. Willingness to work

day shifts, night shifts, and double shifts

.

Full-time, permanent position

Immediate start preferred

Own transport and valid driver's license preferred. Must be based in or willing to relocate to

Cape Town, Western Cape

.
