Key Duties & Responsibilities
Provide strong leadership to manage and oversee all kitchen departments.
Maintain excellent communication and management skills to ensure smooth operations between
Back of House
and
Front of House

Delegate and assign daily food preparation and duties, ensuring consistent high-quality standards.
Work effectively across
all kitchen sections
- hot, cold, and pastry - while training and supporting staff.
Coordinate daily tasks with the Sous Chef and senior team members.
Estimate daily production needs, checking the quality of raw and cooked food products.
Develop innovative recipes and menu ideas that align with the restaurant's style.
Ensure all food production, preparation, and presentation meet the highest quality standards.
Consistently maintain guest satisfaction, food quality, and cost control.
Manage stock ordering, par levels, monthly stock counts, and inputting stock take data.
Update and maintain recipe cards, including accurate costings.
Ensure strict adherence to hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards (FIFO, storage, preservation, temperature control, etc.).
Maintain and operate kitchen equipment; report and follow up on any malfunctions.
Promote a safe, supportive, and motivating working environment.
Train, guide, and mentor staff to encourage growth, teamwork, and efficiency.
Work closely with Restaurant Managers and the Executive Chef regarding daily requirements, functions, and special events.
Provide daily feedback, address issues as they arise, and ensure adherence to service standards.
Lead by example in maintaining the highest standards of personal hygiene and professionalism.
Carry out any additional duties as required by management.
Requirements
Minimum
2-4 years' proven experience
as a Head Chef or in a similar senior role.
Strong leadership, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, costing, stock control, and menu development.
Ability to perform under pressure and manage a busy kitchen service.
A hands-on approach with a passion for training and developing staff.
Willingness to work
day shifts, night shifts, and double shifts
when required.
Own reliable transport
and a
valid driver's license
preferred.
Must be able to
relocate to Cape Town
if not already based locally.
