We are looking for a Hardware Technician (Tester) to join our team. The main purpose of the position is to
test and analyse new and repaired units
to ensure that quality control on product and components are maintained.
You Have:
Unit Testing and Investigation
Run merge reports to obtain data for each unit received
Visually inspect each unit (internal and external)
Charge units and position on CAMS system using Bulk Control
Analyse data by checking backup battery voltage (VBatt), unit voltage (VGSM) and external power voltage (VEXT) readings for each unit
All findings to be updated on the Testing Results Report
Units with missing SIMs must be investigated immediately
Liaise with the SIMS department and with Stores Receiving
Investigate liquid-damaged units
Liaise with Repairs Scheduling to aid with maintenance log sheets
Must know how to wire units
Knowledge of systems and how it works in the back-end
Hardware testing experience
Conduct
comprehensive field testing
of devices to ensure performance under real-world conditions.
Perform
in-office testing
, including simulations, diagnostics, and firmware validation.
Document test results, identify issues, and collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to resolve defects.
Participate in
global hardware sign-off
processes prior to market rollout.
Ensure testing aligns with global quality assurance standards and company policies.
Maintain accurate records of test plans, results, and version controls for hardware builds.
Provide feedback to improve hardware design, usability, and durability.
Support troubleshooting and investigations of hardware-related incidents in the field.
Ensure
integrity and objectivity
in all testing and reporting activities.
Participate in regular review sessions with regional teams to validate test outcomes and approve hardware for production.
Maintain all test stats reports on the public temp under technical maintenance
Ensure that all reports are sent to manager set time standards (daily, weekly, monthly)

Requirements
Matric
National Diploma or Degree in
Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field
.
2-4 years of experience in
hardware testing, product validation, or QA engineering
(preferably in IoT, automotive, or telematics).
Experience with
testing equipment
, firmware validation, and field test methodologies.
Understanding of
vehicle telematics systems
and embedded devices is an advantage.
Valid driver's license (required for field testing).
