Tsebo Facilities Solution is looking for a Handyman -Glazier to provide technical support with regard to reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and glazing on plant and equipment, within the service level requirements.The primary purpose of a glazier is to specialize in the installation, repair, and maintenance of glass in various structures. This skilled professional works with different types of glass, from windows and doors to architectural features, ensuring precision in measurement, cutting, and installation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilitys

• Perform all glazing assignments
• Undertake Planned Preventative Maintenance Tasks allocated by the Senior Technician.

Tasks related to maintenance, repairs, replacement and installations.

• Measurement and Assessment: Taking precise measurements of windows, doors, or other openings to assess the dimensions for glass installation.
• Glass Cutting: Cutting glass sheets to the required sizes using specialized tools or machinery, ensuring accuracy and precision.
• Installation: Installing glass panes into frames, whether for windows, doors, skylights, or other architectural elements, while ensuring a secure fit and proper sealing.
• Sealing and Insulating: Applying sealants and insulation materials around the edges of installed glass to prevent air or water infiltration and enhance energy efficiency.
• Repair and Replacement: Repairing or replacing damaged or broken glass panes, including removing old glass, cleaning frames, and installing new glass with appropriate seals.
• Frame Installation: Installing or repairing frames that hold glass panes, ensuring stability, proper alignment, and compatibility with the overall structure.
• Weather Stripping: Applying weather stripping to windows and doors to enhance energy efficiency by preventing drafts and minimizing heat loss or gain.
• Safety Glass Compliance: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations by installing safety glass in areas where it is required, such as in doors, shower enclosures, or specific architectural features.
• Customization: Providing customization of glass features, including tinting, frosting, or applying decorative elements to meet aesthetic and functional preferences.

• Consultation and Customer Service: Providing consultation to clients regarding suitable glass options, energy efficiency, and design considerations. Offering excellent customer service throughout the installation and maintenance processes.
• Specialized Glazing Techniques: Employing specialized glazing techniques for unique architectural elements, such as curved glass installations, stained glass, or energy-efficient glazing systems.
• Glass Restoration: Restoring old or historic glass features to preserve their original appearance while ensuring structural integrity.
• Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety standards and guidelines, including the proper handling and disposal of glass, as well as using personal protective equipment during installation and maintenance tasks.
• Plumbing Repairs: Fixing leaks, replacing faucets, unclogging drains, repairing or replacing pipes.
• Electrical Work: Replacing lights.
• Carpentry: Repairing or installing cabinets, shelves, doors, windows, and trim work; building or repairing furniture; fixing or replacing damaged woodwork.
• Painting: Preparing surfaces, patching holes, applying primer and paint, selecting and matching paint colors, touch-up work.
• Drywall Repairs: Patching holes, repairing cracks, applying joint compound, sanding, and preparing surfaces for painting.
• Flooring: Installing or repairing laminate, vinyl, or tile flooring; repairing or replacing damaged floorboards; carpet installation or repairs.
• General Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters, lubricating hinges, tightening screws, and checking for safety hazards.
• Shelving and Storage: Building and installing shelves, organizing storage spaces, installing hooks or racks.
• Exterior Maintenance: Cleaning gutters, power washing surfaces, repairing fences or gates, maintaining outdoor structures.
• Assembly: Putting together furniture, equipment, or other items that require assembly.
• Miscellaneous Repairs: Handling various small repairs, such as fixing leaky faucets, squeaky hinges, loose doorknobs, or wobbly furniture.
• Transportation of fellow employees
• Four work orders per day on average
• Cleaning of Offices

• Adhere to the TFSxe2x80x99s Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Management Systemxe2x80x99s Policies & Procedures of as applicable to this position.

• Any reasonable action requested by management, Supervisors, Artisans.

Skills and Competencies

• Good knowledge of all trades, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, building repairs, maintenance and glazing
• Knowledge of tools and materials used in the assigned area of responsibility
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to plan, organise and control own work effort
• Good people skills

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12
• 3 year experience in Glazing and Handyman
• Driving lisence
