A well-established and reputable accounting firm is seeking a meticulous and experienced Tax Accountant to join their growing team. The firm offers a professional yet flexible working environment with an emphasis on quality, integrity, and client service.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all tax compliance and reporting requirements for a range of clients. This includes preparing tax returns, ensuring adherence to SARS regulations, and advising on both local and international tax matters.
This is a half-day position (8am - 1pm), ideal for professionals seeking flexibility and work-life balance. However, there is the option to extend to a full-day role, with the salary adjusted accordingly based on the number of hours worked.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit accurate tax returns (VAT, PAYE, Provisional Tax, Income Tax, etc.) in accordance with statutory deadlines
Ensure full compliance with SARS and other relevant tax authorities
Perform tax reconciliations and prepare working papers for audits
Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants where necessary
Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on the business
Provide guidance on tax implications of business decisions
Manage tax provisions and maintain effective controls and documentation
Respond to SARS queries and manage tax audits
Prepare and submit provisional and annual tax computations
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation
Registered Tax Practitioner (essential)
Accreditation with SAIPA, SAIT, or SAICA
Minimum of 3 years' recent experience in a tax-focused role
Solid understanding of South African tax laws and international tax principles
Proficiency in SARS eFiling and accounting/tax software
Experience in submission of all relevant tax returns for companies and individuals
Proven ability to handle SARS disputes, run SARS meetings, and review tax calculations
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
