What will you do?
The successful candidate will act as a Group Investment Accountant in the SanlamAllianz Group Finance Team and will report to the Finance Head: Statutory Reporting and Consolidation.
What will make you successful in this role?
Responsibilities will include, amongst others, the following:
Take ownership of the accounting and consolidated reporting of investment assets across SanlamAllianz
Reporting on multiple foreign subsidiary investments across a large insurance group in Africa
Ensuring integrity, accuracy and completeness of investments related information in the investment system such as maintaining the asset register, valuation of investments, pricing, exchange rates, interest rates, benchmarks, investment mandate guidelines, investment classification, maturity analysis etc.
Investigation of investment data inconsistencies and validation error handling
Monthly reconciliations of investment data to local in-country source systems and the group consolidation system
Overall responsibility for the accounting of the investments including changes in accounting policies, review of investment related journal entries, amortised cost calculations, fair value calculations, expected credit loss (ECL) calculations
Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations related to investments
Monthly and quarterly reporting to stakeholders including reporting to the Investment Committee and Exco
Ensure effective controls and procedures are in place and focus on process improvements to drive automation and new ways of working
Involvement and support for specific improvement projects to enhance the investment accounting close process and implement best practices across the Group
Co-ordination, planning & communication with internal and external stakeholders in respect of investment reporting requirements and processes
Qualification and Experience Qualified CA(SA) or equivalent
0 to 4 years post qualification experience in investment accounting and asset management
Knowledge & Skills Strong working knowledge of investment principles and investment accounting
Experience in the emerging markets environment will be an advantage
Process management skills (able to review existing processes and procedures, making recommendations for rationalisation/improvement, and implement them operationally)
Ability to speak French will be advantageous
