Job Description


Our client based in Irene, is looking for an EE candidate to take on the role of Group Financial Manager to ensure and maintain the accurate running of the accounting and financial activities of the Group of Companies. Analyse the economic stability of the Group and provide financial information to EXCO and subsidiaries, enabling these stakeholders to make operational, budgeting, and strategic decisions. Report on costs, productivity, margins, and Group performance.

Minimum requirements:

  • Qualifications: CA (SA)
  • Job related: MS Office (advanced in Excel)
  • SAGE Evolution would be advantageous
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years post articles experience
Required Competencies to meet the Job Outcomes:
  • At least 5 years financial management experience,
  • International Financial Reporting Standards,
  • Auditing practices and principles,
  • Computer applications related to the role,
  • Applicable laws, codes and regulations,
  • Valid driverxe2x80x99s licence,
  • Certificate of medical fitness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

All duties take place in accordance with the requirements of the client, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation:
  • - IFRS compliance
  • - Ensuring that the general ledger other accounting records are maintained according to group policy and IFRS.
  • - Ensuring that monthly general ledger reconciliations are completed and reconciling items resolved.
  • - Monthly close-off of accounts fairly reflecting the monthly results of the Group.
  • - Managing statutory financial close-off across the Group.
  • - Completion of the required monthly, interim and year end schedules.
  • - Liaison with internal and external auditors.
  • - Annual Financial Statements preparation and oversight.
  • - Ensuring compliance with VAT legislation, i.e. validity of VAT claimed and that tax invoices conform to requirements. Ensuring monthly completion of VAT schedules for consolidation.
  • - Income Tax compliance - management of tax risks across the Group which includes identifying risks, assessing their possible impact and follow up of treatment to ensure compliance. Accurate and timeous submission of all income tax returns.
  • - Providing input regarding compliance with company law and ensuring compliance with commercial law and legislation generally.
  • - Compiling monthly reports ensuring completeness, accuracy, alignment with strategy and overall insightful / meaningful commentary.
  • - Providing ad hoc information and reports to decision makers on an ongoing basis.
  • - Ensuring efficiency ratios are reported and managed across the Group.
  • - Monitoring and reporting the Groupxe2x80x99s capex spend
  • - Coordination and completion of the Groupxe2x80x99s budget process and delivery within deadlines.
  • - Providing input regarding the formulation of the operational budgets
  • - Coordination of the capex budget within agreed parameters, prioritising projects based on return on investment, risk and ensuring that all investments are in line with strategy.
  • - Ensuring that expense budgets are based on the economic indicators.
  • - Reporting the budget in the required format and presenting thereof to management teams.
  • - Cash flow management and optimization across the Group
  • - Maintaining a 12-month rolling cashflow forecast
  • - Liaison with the Groupxe2x80x99s bankers
  • - Continuously look for opportunities to improve control procedures throughout the business.
  • - Following up on audit queries and ensuring that corrective action is taken by responsible teams.
  • - Quarterly Board presentations for shareholder board meetings
  • - Provide strategic input to the business
  • - Assess asset utilisation and consequent capex requirements
  • - Manage and deliver on succession plans
  • - Utilise regular communication channels and team meetings to promote continuous improvement and best practice on a daily basis.
