Job Description

Purpose of Role




Reporting to the Head of Finance of Allan and Gill Gray Philanthropy Africa (AGGP Africa), the Group Financial Manager is responsible for ensuring strong accounting and reporting throughout the group, including overseeing and monitoring an effective control environment, processes and systems, providing strategic information and advice to the management team, and compliance with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements.



AGGP Africa provides strategic, specialised and operational support to members of the Group, comprising mostly non-profit companies in South and East Africa. Specialised support includes financial analysis and modelling for existing and new programmes, cash management, taxation and internal audit assurance. Operational support is provided through our shared services team focuses on transactional services across Banking, Accounts Payable, Intercompany, Beneficiary and Grant payments, Fixed Assets, Month end reporting and Systems.

Objectives of Role




As the Group Financial Manager, you will be responsible to perform the following for AGGP Africa and the Group:


Key deliverables:



Support the accurate financial year-end close for AGGPA Prepare and/or review Annual Financial Statements of individual entities and Group Consolidation Facilitate and address internal and external audit findings, ensuring implementation across the Group. Banking support - Manage beneficiaries, Release payments, Cash flow forecasting, and International Banking Reserve Bank approvals Budget process - Support the annual budget process with the Finance Business Partner for AGGPA

Financial controls and compliance:



Develop and implement finance policies and procedures addressing audit findings or risk areas, and facilitate the dissemination of these across the group. Ensure the effective operation of financial management policies, procedures, and systems in support of the group. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, accounting and regulatory requirements.

Outcomes




Strategic and strong financial management for the group. External audit outcomes of unqualified audit opinions, delivery of external audit within budget and timelines. Timely and relevant financial budgeting, forecasting and management reporting to aid effective decision making. Automation and digitisation of processes and systems to support efficiencies.

Experience and Qualifications



Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) >10 years' post qualification experience , including in a senior accounting role Strong leadership, management, and accounting skills Strong ability to implement and monitor internal controls Good communicator, planner and organiser, effective project management skills
