JOB TITLE: GROUP FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANTREPORTS TO: GROUP FINANCE MANAGERKEY CUSTOMERS:INTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS -Group Finance Executive; Group CFO; Financial Manager; Group Finance Team; Investor Relations; Company Secretarial; All Business unit finance teams.EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS -External and Internal Auditors; BEE Verification Agency; Insurance Providers; Procurement Vendors; JV and Franchise partners.ROLE OVERVIEW:The Group Financial Accountant is responsible for the financial and consolidation functions of the organization and its subsidiaries, where relevant. The functions include the management of all internal, external, and statutory reporting requirements. The role also encompasses managing the Groups BEE verification processes, Group Insurance, managing the Trust within the Group, assisting with Group tax and other general financial responsibilities that are required for the finance team.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:CA (SA) or SAIPA (articles completed, at minimum board in process)EXPERIENCE & FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  • At least 3+ years of related experience.
  • Retail industry experience is an added advantage - or similar high-paced Finance environments.
  • Excellent analytical, logical reason and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience with the development of financial reports, technical requirements analysis, Group reporting, and financial statement preparation will be beneficial.
  • Ability to function in a matrix organisation and related structures.

KEY OUTPUTS:Group Financial Reporting:
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and group finance staff to ensure well-managed operations for the Group Finance department.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information to inform and influence operational decisions.
  • Prepare the financial inputs as well as review the Group-integrated annual report.
  • Assist with the preparation and release of financial and management reports to various stakeholders.
  • Assist with research, review, and analysis of the effectiveness and efficiency of existing financial reporting procedures and systems, with a view to develope strategies for enhancing or leveraging these processes and systems.
  • Assist with the improvement of overall financial reporting processes and systems by driving efficiency, innovation and automation in group Finance.
  • Work directly with decision makers and end users to understand, define, and document current and possible future reporting goals, needs, and requirements.
  • Assist with the development, and maintenance of all reporting templates to report financial and operational information to EXCO and to the BOARD.
  • Retrieve and utilize information from the accounting system and other data sources and, when necessary, recommend and manage the development and implementation of improved processes.
  • Assist with the design, development, publishing, and maintenance of management dashboards.
  • Assist with research and recommend key performance indicators in order to provide better intelligence in financial reporting.
  • Identify areas of automation as well as process improvement ideas and implement.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining processed related to all standard reporting in the form of consistent policies and guidelines for financial reporting.
  • Assist management in ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, for reporting purposes.
  • Participate in appropriate training and education on IFRS and other general accounting training across the group as an initiative from the Group Finance team to drive learning and development.
Prepare Group consolidation including: * Preparation of consolidation journal entries
  • Accurate consolidation of quarterly/monthly/annual Group results
  • Collation of non-financial KPIs for Board reporting.
  • Accurate and timeous consolidated financial reporting to the executive, Board and shareholders.
  • Preparation of Group finance reporting pack for quarterly, interim, and full year reporting to the Board and to the investor community.
  • Assist the Group annual financial statements for the JSE listed entity in adherence with IFRS and related legislation as well as the financials of other subsidiaries within the Group.
  • Assisting in managing the external audit during the year-end audit as well interim reporting period, where required. This includes all aspects relating to the audit including planning and execution.
  • Month-end financial close - for Services and aspects of Retail divisions.
  • Review and report on balance sheet reconciliations, recoverability of debtors, and management of creditors on a monthly basis (for Retail and Services, and as and where needed).
  • Monthly finance reviews for the Services divisions as well as supporting the Retail team in monthly finance reviews.
  • Assistance on various ad hoc projects with Group Finance.
  • Assistance with tax compliance and reviews.
  • Contributes to the overall team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
