Job Description


Our client in the Higher Education industry is currently looking for a Group Chief Academic Registrar, in Johannesburg or Durban, South Africa .
Responsibilities:

  • Council on Higher Education (CHE):
  • Provide strategic leadership for Accreditation of new programmes, reaccreditations and site accreditation and relocations.
  • Provide leadership and advice on programme and Institutional site visits.
  • Provide leadership for the current application for the Doctor of Business Administration Accreditation and future new qualification applications.
  • Provides leadership and implementation plans for Quality Assurance Framework (QAF)
  • Provide professional advice to Deans, HODs, MDs and Support Staff from a regulatory perspective on an ongoing basis on curriculum review and enhancements.
  • Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET):
  • Quality Assure Annual Reporting to ensure no adverse findings.
  • Oversee Amendments to registration.
  • Provide advice on response to DHET student Complaints.
  • SAQA:
  • Provide strategic leadership for academic audit process by coordinating all stakeholders.
  • Oversee submission of Annual Academic Audit report to SAQA.
  • Ensure no exception report for SAQA from Academic Audit.
  • Provide professional advice on all SAQA documents, surveys, and reporting.
  • Academic Budgets:
  • Together with Group Chief Academic Officer (GCAO) and Director: Group Academic Administration prepares the annual budgets for the academic portfolio.
  • Certification & Graduation:
  • New students: Provide professional advice on all RPL cases for Access, Exemption & CAT
  • QA Certification process for Short Learning Programmes and Full qualifications.
  • Provide advice with regards to employers, educational institutions, corporate funders, and embassy queries.
  • Provide strategic direction and advice on graduation planning whether face to face or in the metaverse.
  • Provide strategic advice to Alumni manager/administrator on alumni tracking, reporting, and ensuring lifelong learning)
  • External Affiliations, Collaboration:
  • Provide initial leadership for local and international affiliations: PRME; SABSA; AABS; SAICA, AMBA, EFMD, AACSB and other regional and global partnerships with universities.
  • Advise and QA reporting.
  • Prepare the institution for international MBA accreditations and rankings in due time.
  • Commence with AMBA membership.
  • Irregularities, Complaints & Disciplinary:
  • Advise on Student Advisory Committee with respect to inputs on academic inputs.
  • Manage all complaints to GCEO, GCAO and regulatory institutions.
  • Provide leadership for student irregularities and disciplinaries.
  • Chair all student and lecturer academic transgressions.
  • Legal has a basic understanding but he/she will be guided by our legal entities.
  • Postgraduate Supervision:
  • Provide professional advice on topics, proposals, ethical clearance, and supervision.
  • Supervise & Moderate Dissertations.
  • Academic Advisory Board and Senate:
  • Advise on membership to forums.
  • Provide strategic direction to these forums with latest regulatory inputs.
  • The agenda and management of these meetings are from desk of the Group Registrar.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Provide leadership for community Engagement projects.
  • Design Strategic projects for brand management and enhancement.
  • Exco Partnership:
  • Work closely with the GCEO, GCAO and GCMO to innovate, market and implement all academic transformation initiatives.
  • Relationship and brand building:
  • To attract corporate bursaries, scholarships, and job placements for our graduates.
  • Represent the institution at various fora as and when requested by the GCAO, GCEO and GCMO.
  • Together with Director: Group Academic Administration and Deans, Executive Director: Student Experience, the Registrar co- owns and drives student success to promote the brand.
  • Marketing and Competitor Sensemaking:
  • Together with GCAO, Director: Group Academic Administration and Deans, the Registrar markets the institution and all our qualifications as well as conduct competitor analysis for strategic decision making.
  • Library Management:
  • The Registrar is responsible for the management of the national librarian and is the custodian of library developments and the budgets related to the library resources.
Requirements:
  • Doctorate in a related discipline will be an advantage.
  • Masters Degree with intention of future doctoral studies will be viewed favourably.
  • Demonstrated track record as an academic and thought leader in the sector.
  • Knowledge of and working relationships with the South African Higher Education qualifying authorities is an advantage.
  • Experience in high-level liaison with internal and external stakeholders and professional boards.
  • Proven track record of higher education evolutions from a regulatory perspective.
  • Current and past industry experience, local or global, in this sector is an advantage.
  • Demonstratable thought leadership and public presence in the digital capabilities discipline is an advantage.
  • Peer Review Journal Publications local and International as guided by the Executive Director:
  • Research.
  • Position will be based at any one of our campuses. Successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary and be prepared to travel occasionally between campus hubs.
  • Strong leadership skills, as well as strong interpersonal communication skills to enhance a high-performance culture.
Remuneration:
  • R55000 R60000 per month.
