Graphic Designer

Graphic designers create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, that is important in the sales and marketing of products and the company. The Graphic Designer plays a crucial role in the product development where they work with the buyers to ensure their vision of the item is getting implemented on the packaging so it can go to market quickly and efficiently. Reporting to the Senior Merchandise Buyer the Graphic Designer is responsible for creating selling material for account meetings, merchandiser communications for distributions, and working closely with the overseas production team to make sure artwork is staying on track and getting completed.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Combining art and technology to communicate ideas through images, product design, marketing materials and websites using a variety of design elements to achieve artistic or decorative effects
• Create and present dynamic design approaches for product packaging to optimize the customer journey through the shopping experience
• Determine the strategy and message the product design should portray to reach the targeted audience with graphics for product illustrations, logos and websites
• Regularly meet with the Merchandise Buying team to determine the scope projects to support Jacent customers and the Sales team with marketing tools, sales brochures and logos
• Stay current and up-to-date with the latest software and computer technologies
• Communicate with the Merchandise Buying team, overseas production team and other designers to ensure that designs accurately reflect the desired message and effectively express information
• Work requires invention, imagination, and originality

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proven graphic designing experience
• Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability, imagination and originality
• Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
• Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas
• Professionalism regarding time, costs and deadlines
• Creativity, flexibility, attention to detail, deadline oriented
• Expertise with desktop publishing tools
• The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Experience and Credentials

• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of related experience
• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or Fine Arts or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
