Job Description

Design and Layout

Design and produce a range of printed and digital publications, including client- specific design requests from the Printing Unit Campus maps printed and digital Signage Range of other digital collaterals Any other type of design request eg interactive and web responsive collateral Design office door tags and lift direction boards for operations and general maintenance Collaborate with the Wits Web Design team to develop, update, and maintain departmental websites and intranet pages, ensuring content accuracy and alignment with institutional standards.

Client Liaison

Maintain professional and good relationships with all Wits clients and Brand manager Ensure service ethics are upheld and that their design needs are clearly understood. Meet client deadlines Advice on best design practice

Production and Repro

Understand the technical process of repro and print to ensure the correct outcome is achieved e.g. data compression, data conversion, scanning of images, digital prints. QA on material supplied and signing off proofs prior to print.

Supplier Management and Liaison

Obtain appropriate and correct number of quotes depending on scale of project Supplying to client and advising on best approach.

Required Academic Qualification/s (and Professional Registration/Trade where applicable):

Grade 12 Three years Graphic Design Diploma, Bachelors' Degree in Graphic Art/Design (advantageous). Valid Driver's License

Required Years of Work Related Experience:

3-5 years experience Proficiency in Design Software and tools Adobe Suite InDesign (layout) Illustrator (visual content) Photoshop (image prep/editing)

Strong design and layout skills with experience in both print and digital media. Understanding of branding and signage guidelines. Highly creative Ability to take initiative with respect to design trends Ability to work in a team Professional client liaison Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality. Ability to meet design deadlines as required Attention to detail Ability to adapt to changing design software and upskills accordingly Understanding and ability to adapt and design for web when required.
