To manage the financial aspects of grants, ensuring compliance with funding regulations, preparing accurate financial reports, and supporting program teams throughout the grant lifecycle
Location: 31 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown Key performance areas:
Ensure adherence to the financial policies and procedures and Donor rules and regulations
Effective review and timeously approval of purchase orders on the WHC portal ensuring the P2P complies with the financial policies of WHC and donor rules and regulations
Monitor expenditures and ensure alignment with grant terms and conditions and organizational policies and procedures. Effective review and approval of general ledger entries and journal entries
Budget preparation and management
Preparation of journals with the necessary supporting documents for capturing
Review subawardee's financial reports for accuracy and compliance. Prepare the journal to capture the subawardee's costs into the organization's GL
Ensure timely submission of financial documentation from subawardees
Preparation of audit samples to support internal and external audits
Provide financial advice to divisions and sites
Prepare and submit timely, accurate, comprehensive financial reports to funders and divisions
Liaison with all relevant stakeholders
Effective compliance with donor requirements
Effective self-management
Adhoc duties include, requesting invoices to external and internal stakeholders including cost recovery invoices with the necessary supporting documentation
Required minimum education and training:
BCom Accounting or equivalent
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum of 3 years financial reporting experience in a Healthcare or Donor funded environment
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Experience working in a donor funded organization/NGO will be an advantage
Knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel and accounting package is desirable
Must have a dynamic and compatible personality able to deal with clients, donors and staff at all levels
Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
The environment may at times be busy and need excellent management skills and attention to details
May be required to work overtime and to travel to various sites
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) will be required
