The Role





Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Governance Officer, the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Manager will play a key role in strengthening GivenGain's global governance, risk, and compliance frameworks. Based in South Africa, you'll collaborate across countries and teams to ensure that governance standards, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance are aligned and effective throughout the organization.



This is both a strategic and operational role -- ideal for someone passionate about integrity, accountability, and using technology for good.

Key Responsibilities




Regulatory compliance + Ensure compliance with charitable fundraising, financial reporting, relevant financial services regulation, and other applicable regulatory requirements across GivenGain's affiliated entities in Switzerland, the UK, and the USA.
+ Develop, implement, and maintain compliance frameworks, controls, and monitoring activities that support a fast-growing, technology-enabled business strategically incorporated as a non-profit
Data protection and privacy governance + Lead data protection and privacy governance to ensure compliance with applicable laws including GDPR, CCPA, and national data protection legislation.
+ Promote best practices in data handling, information security, and privacy-by-design across all business functions, working closely with product, engineering, and operations teams.
Risk management framework + Develop and maintain a risk management framework to identify, assess, and mitigate operational, regulatory, and reputational risks across the organization.
+ Provide clear, practical guidance and reporting on key risks and controls to leadership and relevant governance bodies.
Governance, policy development, and oversight + Support the Chief Strategy and Governance Officer with board governance, policy development, and oversight, including the design and maintenance of core governance documents, frameworks, and charters.
+ Drive continuous improvement of internal-control and compliance systems and ensure policies are embedded and consistently applied.
Culture, awareness, and external landscape + Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to promote organizational understanding of governance, risk, and compliance responsibilities.
+ Monitor global trends in nonprofit governance, digital fundraising regulation, and data protection standards to advise leadership on emerging risks and opportunities.







About You




5+ years of experience in governance, risk and/or compliance roles, ideally gained in a technology, digital platform, fintech or other fast?growing, innovation?driven environment. Strong understanding of regulatory and risk issues relevant to technology?enabled businesses, such as data protection, information security, platform terms, third?party risk and cross?border operations, with nonprofit or fundraising sector experience an advantage but not a requirement. Proven ability to manage cross-border or multi-entity compliance frameworks. Comfortable with a hands-on approach, able to move from designing frameworks and policies to working directly with teams to implement, refine, and operationalise them in day-to-day practice. Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills. Analytical thinker with attention to detail and sound judgment. Demonstrated commitment to ethical business, transparency, and impact-driven work. Relevant tertiary qualification in law, governance, risk, compliance or a related field; an LLB or equivalent law degree will be considered a strong advantage.
