SASA- Governance and Compliance Officer

The South African Sugar Association's (SASA) Industry Affairs Division has a permanent vacancy for a Governance and Compliance Officer, based at Mount Edgecombe, KwaZulu-Natal.

The South African Sugar Association's (SASA) Industry Affairs Division is responsible for the provision of a range of key support services to the Council of SASA as well as to SASA as an organization.

The Governance and Compliance Officer will provide legal and compliance support to the department and SASA Divisions, secretarial and minute taking support to the Sugar Industry Appeals Tribunal, Amendment to the Sugar Industry Agreement Committee and Governance Committee.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

• A completed Bachelor of Laws (LLB Degree)
• An admitted attorney
• Experience in Commercial Law

Essentials for this role:

• A clear credit and no criminal record.
• Contract Management Qualification will be advantageous.
• 1-2 years of experience in a legal role, preferably with exposure to contract drafting, compliance, or related areas
• Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word together with MS Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, supported by an ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at different levels within the industry.

The ideal candidate must ensure that confidentiality and effectiveness of all tasks and objectives are maintained; must have excellent planning and prioritising skills as well as efficient paper/systems management skills.

• Undertake various tasks delegated by the Governance and Compliance Manager related to the King IV Corporate Governance standard
• Contract drafting
• Compliance administration
• Training
• Legal Research
• Documentation and record keeping
• Work closely with other members of the Industry Affairs Department to provide legal support and ensure consistent and effective legal guidance.
