Global IT Project Manager Job description
The Role As a Project Manager within the Global IT Projects Team you will be responsible for the delivery of global IT projects, ensuring that all work is managed in accordance with our IT PMO Delivery Framework. On a day to day basis, you will lead teams of technology and other specialists and engage with the wider stakeholder community to ensure that project delivery meets agreed requirements.

  • On a day to day basis, own, proactively drive and manage projects and ensure that the appropriate level of governance is maintained in accordance with our internal governance frameworks and processes.
  • Where necessary, lead a technical team to produce designs and appropriate documentation, managing the Technical Design Authority review process and ensuring that delivery aligns to the designs and standards agreed environment including the development of contingency plans.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and compile and present business cases for board level review.
  • Manage project budget and report on project status to project boards as required.
  • Manage business & project risks and dependencies.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and sponsors to determine needs, build business cases, deliver and manage expectations and communications with the stakeholder/group.
  • Help to identify and manage suppliers required to meet project deliverables.
  • Work closely with the Service Management Team to ensure a controlled and supportable transition to business as usual.
Skills and Experience Required
  • This role requires an experienced project manager with experience in owning and driving global projects, ensuring outcome, sponsor confidence and delivery.
  • An accomplished business relationship professional, expert in building and managing relationships globally. You will be able to demonstrate examples of high levels of confidence in your stakeholder groups.
  • A recognized project management qualification (e.g. PMI, PMP, APM or Prince2). Experienced in working in a global environment across multiple regions and within a complex, matrixed and federated business model. Extensive experience managing projects, at a global level, with an extensive portfolio of successful projects.
  • Strong team player with the ability to engender support and delivery from regional technical teams, ensuring effective change management globally.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies, architectural frameworks and key ITIL disciplines.
  • Experience orchestrating RFI/RFPs is desirable but not essential plus effective supplier management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both orally and written.
  • Self-starting with experience in leading, managing and motivating teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, be responsive and efficiently prioritise.
