GIS Technician - Water / Hydrologic and Hydraulic - JhbOverviewWoolpert Africa, based in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa, offers extensive high accuracy lidar, imagery and remote sensing experience, as well as airborne topographic, hyper spectral, and thermal survey and mapping. Because of our growth we are now excited to be adding a GIS Technician to our new Water/Hydrologic and Hydraulic Team!ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:Assist with converting data between CAD, GIS, and other platforms.Collaborate closely with the Market Practice Managers and staff to deliver GIS data and solutions.Utilize technical background to assist in the design, analysis, and modification of GIS data.Work with clients and staff to ensure successful project delivery, consistent quality, and customer satisfaction.Interpret GIS technology that is out in the industry and assist in developing new applications, workflows, data standards, and solutions for internal and external clients.Provide quality reviews of project documentation, including work plans thru final deliverables.Stay up on the technology and help develop procedures that can meet our clientsxe2x80x99 needs.Data IntegrationData ClassificationFeature ExtractionPost-processed LiDAR ClassificationsGeospatial AnalysisDatabase ManagementMap CreationDigital DeliverablesQualificationsQualifications / Experience:Degree in Geography/GIS with minimum 2 years of experienceWorking experience in the current ESRI environment, including ArcMap, ArcPro, and ArcGIS OnlineWorking experience in Microstation and AutoCAD is preferredStrong communication skillsHighly organized and detailed orientedExperience with ESRI Software xe2x80x93 ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, and ArcGIS Portal2 years of experience as a technicianExperience with PythonCity Works Experience requireExperience to draw in parcel data using legal descriptionsUnderstand data standards and use standards to create or transform dataExcellent communication skills, systems troubleshooting, fault isolation/diagnosis, and the ability to read, comprehend and follow technical dataMust be able to work independently and within a team environmentAssociate or bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in a related field, preferredDemonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environmentQuickly adapt and respond to industry changes as well as internal initiativesCertification as a GISP is desired but not requiredExperience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is preferred but not requiredExperience with Safe Softwarexe2x80x99s FME preferred but not requiredAviation experience is preferred?but not requiredBuilding Information Modeling experience is desired but not requiredESRI Experience Builder experience preferredAbout Woolpert:Woolpert is committed to a vision to become the premier architecture, engineering and geospatial (AEG) firm, and one of the best companies in the world.
