Our well known client is looking for a Geometric Engineer / Technologist to join their team.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• BSc / BEng / BTech in civil engineering.
• Active registration with ECSA as a candidate engineer/ technologist, with a willingness to learn and to obtain professional registration.
• Minimum 5-7 yearsxe2x80x99 post graduate experience, specifically in the planning and design of road projects (freeways, interchanges, arterials and collector roads and urban streets).
• Good experience and knowledge of geometric design and ability to generate roadworks drawings using Civil3D software is essential.
• Computer literate. Proficient in MS Office Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD and Civil3D / and other relevant design software.
• Good working knowledge of South African geometric design standards.
• Experience in the geometric design of complex road projects.
• Experience in technical coordination with other engineering disciplines.
• Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, but also as part of a dynamic team.
• Good administrative skills.
• Good writing skills.
• Good time management skills, pro-active, practical and dedicated.
• Showing development of good leadership skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Team member of road planning and design on designated projects.
• Regular liaison and reporting to Lead Engineer: Geometric Design or other Responsible Person as per project requirements.
• Assist with research, compile relevant data, evaluation of the technical and financial aspects, complete with cost estimates and budget quotations for Civil Engineering proposals.
• Undertake the planning and design of road and storm water projects including production of technical drawings, designs, reports and documents as directed.
• Under supervision, carry out Feasibility Studies, Preliminary and Detailed Design for Transportation projects.
• Check all drawings, designs, reports and documents produced in accordance with relevant design guidelines and the Companyxe2x80x99s Quality Management Systemxe2x80x99s requirements as set out in the applicable work instructions and checklists.
• Assist with preparation of tender documents including detailed specifications, general conditions of contract and schedules of quantities.
• Monitoring and implementation of site construction work as, where and when required, on a part-time of full-time basis.
• Carry out site inspections, project and network level assessments and other assigned construction monitoring activities in accordance with the Companyxe2x80x99s Quality Management Systemxe2x80x99s requirements as set out in the applicable work instructions and checklists.
• Attend client and technical meetings and compile minutes as and when required.
• Register as a candidate with ECSA and the companyxe2x80x99s Blueprint Programme to ensure advancement towards registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Complete and submit monthly blueprint reports as per annual calendar if not already registered.
• Participate in professional organizations for marketing, industry recognition and networking.
• Assist in marketing and business development initiatives.
• Compliance with and managing direct reports (if applicable) compliance with the companyxe2x80x99s Quality Management System (ISO9001:2015) Business Management System (BMS) and the Project Management Online Guide (PMOG).
• Perform research and write technical papers for publication or presentation at industry related conferences.
• Maintain regular and continued professional development through on the job training, in-house courses, seminars, or outsourced specialist training as required and as agreed with the designated Executive Manager or other Responsible Person.
