Job Description

Our client, a leading International Mining House, seeks an experienced Geology Manager to oversee all geological functions across underground operations in the Northern Cape. This critical leadership role requires an expert in resource estimation, grade control, ore definition, and geological modelling to ensure the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the geological functions related to grade control, ore definition drilling, database management, and resource estimation, driving continuous improvement and technical excellence
Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and company procedures.
Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets for the geology department, aligning financial performance with production goals.
Optimize ore body utilization by minimizing dilution, maintaining optimal Mine Call Factors (MCF), and providing precise geological information to support effective mining practices.
Deliver and update resource models for the mine's deposits, ensuring JORC-compliant resource calculations and reporting.
Identify, monitor, and mitigate geological hazards through thorough interpretation and risk analysis.
Provide geological support and input to Mining and Metallurgy teams, enabling accurate mine planning, scheduling, and ore characterization.
Manage and oversee grade control systems to maximize ore recovery and minimize ore loss.
Drive the implementation of best-practice geological techniques and 3D modelling tools (Vulcan, Leapfrog, Datamine, Acquire, Maxwell).
Mentor and develop a high-performing geology team to ensure operational excellence and technical growth.
Qualifications and Experience
BSc (Hons) in Earth Sciences / Geology (minimum 4-year degree).
10+ years' experience in operational geology within mining, with at least 4 years in a supervisory/management role for underground geological operations.
Proven experience with cut-and-fill and longhole open stoping mining methods.
Proficiency in MS Office and 3D geological modelling software (Vulcan, Leapfrog, Datamine, Acquire, Maxwell).
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to direct teams and achieve production targets.
Valid Code B driver's license and Certificate of Medical Fitness (or ability to obtain).
