General Manager - Premium Food Retail & Cafe - Constantia
Our client is opening a new premium food retail and cafe location in Constantia, Cape Town and is seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead operations from launch.
This senior role is ideal for a commercially minded hospitality or food retail professional who excels at team leadership, operational management, customer service excellence, and driving profitability in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Description
The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the new store's operations, including staff management, front-of-house and kitchen coordination, inventory and stock control, and overall business performance.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in launching the store, embedding operational standards, building a motivated team, and ensuring a premium customer experience. This is a hands-on position requiring leadership, strategic oversight, and day-to-day operational involvement.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all day-to-day store operations
• Recruit, train, and motivate store staff to deliver exceptional service
• Ensure consistent customer experience and brand standards
• Oversee inventory, stock control, supplier coordination, and ordering processes
• Manage operational budgets, costs, and profitability
• Coordinate front-of-house and kitchen operations to ensure seamless service
• Implement and maintain health, safety, and hygiene compliance
• Drive sales growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction
• Support marketing and promotional initiatives during the store launch and beyond

Position Details

• Location: Constantia, Cape Town
• Start Date: March 2026 (new store launch)
• Salary: R25,000 - R30,000 per month
• Role Type: Full-time, on-site

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience in a General Manager, Store Manager, or senior management role in hospitality, cafe, or food retail
• Strong leadership, team management, and staff development skills
• Operational expertise including stock control, cost management, and financial oversight
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high-volume service
• Passion for premium food, beverage, and customer experience
